The Dropbox app is stuck on Ubuntu 24.04 and all my content is stuck with a blue circling icon

Using Ubuntu 24.04 Noble. Dropbox hangs. All files/folders in Dropbox folder are shown with blue circle against them which doesn't change. I've tried reinstalling Dropbox using instructions at [link removed as per Community Guidelines]
I'm on Dropbox Basic plan so I can't get support from them. I've obeyed instruction to Update Dropbox. I've restarted computer. I've tried copying all Dropbox folder's contents to another folder. At my wits end! Any ideas please?

You were spot on with the next steps.

Since you've copied your content to a temporary location, the next thing is to make sure that everything Dropbox-related is deleted from the device. This includes your old Dropbox folder and any other remaining program files that you can find.

Once you do that, please restart the device, then download and install the desktop app using this link. Give it some time to install and sync your content, and let me know how it goes. Thanks!

If you click on the Dropbox icon in your system tray, what is the sync status there?

I don't remember what Sync Status showed but the syncing was causing my Ubuntu 2024 OS to go very slow. So I paused the Sync and OS resumed normality.

I've followed all the steps in the article except that I can't get help from Dropbox support as I only have a basic account. I've now copied all my Dropbox folders & files to a temporary location. The Dropbox website still 'contains' all my folders & files.

I've now deleted my Dropbox folder and the dot (i.e.hidden) files on my PC and the Dropbox app from my Startup apps. The obvious thing to do is now to restart my PC and reinstall Dropbox from the supplied .deb file from the Dropbox website. Is that the way to go?
