If sync gets interrupted for some reason it never restarts again on my new Mac

I have a large file in my dropbox which I have been trying to sync to a new mac desktop. If I uninstall and reinstall the dropbox application, and then ask it to sync it would start downloading. But once the sync gets interrupted, by the mac going to sleep or anything else, it refuses to continue. In apple finder, the file appears as being synced. In the dropbox app, it shows as online only. I can move it to make available offline but it does not start to sync. If I ****** the app and restart, it moves back to available online only. Raised a ticket with helpdesk 5 days ago, no updates. Any advice would be much appreciated.
