New Dropbox beta build 234.3.5540 overworks my OS system.

I’m facing a significant issue that prevents me from using the Dropbox app on my macOS system.

After upgrading my Mac to macOS 26, the Dropbox app shows a 12-hour Power 25% Energy Impact in the Activity Monitor. Additionally, there are approximately 25% bursts of energy usage every 60 seconds, regardless of whether the sync feature is enabled or not.

This beta version is also affected.

As you're running a beta version of Mac OS, it's not currently a fully tested or supported environment for the Dropbox desktop application. You can see a list of our system requirements here.

While we support a variety of operating systems, we are unable to support these versions until they are officially classified as stable.

Since you have the beta version installed instead of the stable one, that could be the culprit there.

Can you try to uninstall Dropbox from your computer using these steps?

Once you do this, please access your account settings online and then toggle the Early Access setting to Off. After that reinstall the stable version using this link.
