I can't paste the screenshots I capture on Windows

Hi, @psychomaniac189 -- Thanks for flagging this! I'm on the Product Management team here at Dropbox, and I'd love to better understand the issue you're having.

If I'm following correctly, it sounds like you've set your Screenshot settings (in Preferences) to "Copy Link," but when you take a screenshot, you're not able to paste the link.

I notice you said "press ctrl+v to copy." When that pop-up appears, it should copy the link automatically -- and you should be able to use CRTL + V to paste it (vs. copy it).

If you take a screenshot and then immediately use CRTL + V to try and paste it somewhere, does that work for you? Or does it still not paste anything?

Hey @psychomaniac189, it might sound unimportant, but have you restarted your device since this started happening?

You're better off setting the default action to copy the image, like normal PrintScreen does, so you can immediately paste. It also looks like you're rushing and not ensuring you have focus in something you can paste in, like Paint.Net which I just tested for you. Open that or fbMessenger or Skype or MSPaint or anything that can paste an image, make sure it's focussed, the Ctrl+V. -- The real problem here is that they've recently added that intrusive popup and now it's impossible to take quick successive screenshots, because taking an immediate second one snaps the small popup. This mistake should be removed, since it cannot be removed in Notification settings.

You are disgusting for adding the intrusive popup which only has one way of being removed, and that's if I don't save screenshots to Dropbox. You have a lot to answer for, and there needs to be a way to stop it. I want to take screenshots without interruption! INSTEAD, I must close your stupid popup. Dropbox screenshots have been great up until now. FIX IT.

I completely agree: not being able to explicitly disable this pop-up is frustrating.

Our team is actively working on a fix for this, so that you can easily disable it with a dedicated setting -- stay tuned for that.

I'd also like to note that, currently, this pop-up is only in our "beta" version of the app. You'll know you're on beta if the middle number of your app version is "3" (e.g., 216.3.4255).

If you'd like to switch to the "stable" version of the Dropbox app (with less experimental features), you can download it here.

I don't think you know what you are talking about cuz it dont work! I've done what you said. If I didn't I wouldn't have been here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it still don't work!

Cool. I just downloaded it, installed it 3 times, and I still have version 216.3.4299, even after restarting my computer just now.
- Stable Build 215.4.7202
- Windows(Windows 10 or later) Standard Installer
Would love you input about this.
So I just now tried the offline Installer:
- Dropbox 215.4.7202 Offline Installer.x64
This worked. The other one must be "online" and it's useless.
With 215.4.7202, I no longer get that screenshot popup.

In the system tray, Dropbox was staying there when it installed and reverted, but since I deleted the Standard Installer file which didn't even work, now when Dropbox reverted, it removed the icon from the system tray. What the hell is going on, after so many years of a product that had no issue, suddenly all of this!!! -- Looks like I'm stuck with 216.3.4299, which this time, I actually uninstalled in Settings, then installed the new version, which sucked because the installer doesn't want to use the current folder named "Dropbox" which is another thing you should fix!!! -- What a major cockup!!!

I can't check Dropbox in the system tray, so I checked Settings, and there it is, again, 216.3.4299. A number I can't unmemorize. 🤬🖕

Did you toggle off the 'early releases' from your account's settings before installing the latest, stable version of the Dropbox desktop app @L_?

I forgot to mention, I followed Ryan's link to my settings page, and that option isn't there. Perhaps a more in depth link, with all the /slugs would help.

You need to be more specific that this default settings page.

The "early releases" option should be a bit further down on that page @L_ - did you find it to toggle it off?

Okay! It's under "Preferences-Automatic time zone". Thanks. I'll see if I can keep the stable version. That preference is usually set to off by default with products.

Is there a reason my Desktop shortcuts are now being synced? It's annoying, and all the solid filled green ticks appear at the center bottom of the icons, while the white green ticks are bottom left.

Are you using the Dropbox Backup feature by any chance @L_?

A screenshot of what's troubling you would also help, so feel free to send us one in your next response.

The center solid filled green ticks turned into something else before I thought to screenshot them. Now I have square ones. I don't remember seeing these on the desktop before. But maybe they were there. I don't know if the backup thing is happening, but Desktop is not inside Dropbox, so while I have Dropbox being normal as for many years, I don't know why it would scope outside of Dropbox. -- And to make things stranger, as I was typing the above, all the Desktop icon mini icons just disappeared.

I see now the last stable version is 215. I'm seeing how that goes now.

And geez, look what's back. Center solid filled green ticks.

Now look at them.

Are these files inside your Dropbox folder @L_?

Also, what is the app's exact status as shown in your system tray? Is it 'up to date' or still syncing perhaps?
