Hello — After my windows computer restart today from April “patch Tuesday” — I got a pop-up window from dropbox that there was an update to “dropbox backup” AKA “backup”
I let it do the update — it took some time — now after the fact there was over 8.000 file in my documents folder. After the update finished, I could not find the “PC” sub-folder in the dropbox folder. The PC folder contained “Documents” and “Downloads.” At first it was not clear where the PC folder was moved to. I then checked the usual place that “Documents” and “Downloads” are located and they are there now! It seems that the backup update move the noted folders back the (usual) default location.
In addition, now at dropbox.com there is a folder “PC” in the backup list and documents and downloads are at that location.
I also see now from the dropbox icon in the system tray that the windows client/app is now upload (it seems) all the files that are in the Documents” and “Downloads” folders.
I tried to get more info from “chat” support on this, but got the impress that the support agents were unaware of this update
So is this the new “backup schema?” That there is a part of dropbox.com that is isolated from the usual dropbox folder that is on the windows desktop?
Lastly, I am using “dropbox backup” on 2 of my computers, but so-far just one prompted me to do the update ---- will the other computers the the option to also “update?” ‘
