Hey @1FF, let's jump right into this!
I'm not entirely sure what the end goal is here. Would you be able to let me know more?
You mentioned that videos tell you to go to settings, then preferences & access your Sync tab, however I'd like some additional info as to what you wish to achieve, in order to guide you.
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!
hi thank you for getting back to me.
So i have drop box online however i need to have them synced to my laptop. the drop box is shared by a few of us, and previously i could access them within the files on my old laptop. now i can only get them online - i have watched videos to help but i do not have the sync button they are needing me to select. from there i believe i then selected which files i want to sync?
Hey @1FF, thanks for the speedy response!
As a first step, have you first downloaded the app to the new device of yours? You can do this by following this link.
Is it possible that you can't locate our Sync tab, because you're checking online, and not locally?
hi.
i have tried on the app and on the website.
Would you be able to send me a screenshot of what you see when you access the app's preferences, in order for me to have a visual @1FF?
Also, what is the OS you're using, along with the version of your Dropbox app?
You can find the version by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon, on your task/menu bar, next to your WiFi.
in the app i do not have the option to select preferences. below is what i have.
; i can only do that on the website.
which gives me the image below.
I have the updated drop box app - Dropbox lite.
i am using windows 11
Hi @1FF, it looks like you're using Dropbox for S mode, which doesn't exactly work the way our stable desktop app works.
Microsoft makes available to their customers a more locked-down version of the Windows operating system.
S mode version currently is not designed to sync an entire folder or your Dropbox. This has the advantages of not requiring unnecessary space on machines that require greater security.
If you have a computer with a supported version of Windows, you can install the full version of the Dropbox desktop application from this following link, after you switch from S mode.
I'd recommend you to use the full version of the Dropbox desktop application to take full advantage of its syncing capabilities and exceptional features for the best possible experience.
If you have any questions, let me know!
