Why unexpectidly, all my files appear with the Dropbox logo icon on my PC, as shown below?
Hi @JCRCAN, thanks for messaging the Community!
It looks like you might have activated the Dropbox Backup feature on your account, since the Documents folder shows the sync icon.
You can disable it by following these steps.
If you need any further assistance, please let me know!
Thanks for your quick reply. Unfortunatly I can't find the proper Dropbox Icon with the "Synchronisation and Sauvegarde" line of command. My account set up must be wrong.
I used it initially to receive files from others and now I realize that all my personal files seem to be stored on Dropbox.
No surprise that I have been recently informed by Dropbox that my storage space needed to be extended. However it was not my choice to use Dropbox as a back-up system, since I do it myself.
And now I am stock with this situation. Any other clue to get out of that?
Could you check to see if the backup is visible on the Dropbox site instead, and if you can disable it from there?
Yes I can see my Document directory on the DropBox site as shown below:
And when I enter in th Backup page this is what I am invited to do:
You must absolutly solve this unacceptable situation. I don't have control on my own PC environment!
I don't what to use Dropbx anymore! It is a mess!
Hey @JCRCAN - sorry to jump in here, but could you clarify what happens when you click on the 'C'est parti !' button shown in your second screenshot?
Also, if you have the Dropbox desktop app installed and running on your computer at the moment, could you take a look at the backups tab in the app's preferences and let me know if you're able to disable your backups from there?
Here is what I got from the "C'est parti" button and the next "Plus f'info" button:
When I click on the Dropbox icone, nothing happens. Thererefore the "app's rpreference" is never accessible.
It seems that the "no more space avauilable" has caused this jammed situations. Since I am not interested in the Dropbox backup, would it be solved by deleting the Dropbox backup files, and retrieve them on the PC itself?
Can you
The present situation is such that all my PC directories are linked on Dropbox instead of local PC environment. How did it happen and how to get rid of that?
Based on your screenshots, it seems that Dropbox Backup isn't enabled so could you try enabling it (as shown in your first screenshot) and let us know how it goes @JCRCAN?
Just make sure not to delete anything for the moment to avoid any data loss.
