Variant on the MacOS Monterey 12.7.1, missing finder extensions issue

Hi,

There's a fairly well-known issue on MacOS where the finder extensions don't show up on right-click. It's a major problem because on older Macs if you can't quickly bring a file to the local drive then many applications won't be able to open it, or even recognise the file at all. Sometimes it can be fixed through reinstalls and checking Finder settings.

I have a new variant on this, whereby I can see some Dropbox finder extensions in the non-Dropbox folders of my drives, but NOT in the Dropbox folder where I most need them!

This is what I see on my desktop (non-Dropbox files):

But this is what I see in my actual Dropbox folder and child-folders:

It should look like this:

"Make available offline" is vital for me, any ideas how I can get it back?

FYI I'm on Monterey 12.7.1, Intel chip and running the latest copy of Dropbox on a clean install. All my finder extention checkboxes are checked. The reset and clean install haven't fixed anything, but I don't know whether the context menu was showing up outside of Dropbox before that - I wasn't looking for it there.

Hi @nothanksm8, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Does that folder have any sync icons on it, since I wasn't able to see the entire folder icon in Finder?

Is the Dropbox desktop application running and syncing normally? When you click the icon in the menu bar, what message appears on the bottom left?

No, no sync badges on folder/file icons, which DO appear on my other computer so I know what you mean:

Sync is working normally as shown below. This is right after the reinstall so it's resyncing everything:

Thanks for the update, just to check, could you see if you've tried these steps to see if they help to bring back the icons?

Yes I've...

Switched full-disk access on/off
Signed the app out of/into my account
Full reinstall (for DB restart)
Removed the folder from my favourites and re-added.

What's the syncing status of the app at the moment? Has it finished syncing?

And if you hover over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar, which version do you see?

I see a lot of uploading and downloading happening at the moment, so I would suggest allowing that to finish first.

Does it look like it's progressing as normal? Or is it stuck?

@Hannah yes it's stuck. I left it for ages to sync so many files but now a bunch are missing entirely from my computer and this is what it looks like:
