Google Drive appears in the SideBar section Locations but DropBox does not appear there
Why not ?
Okay, problem solved, or at least a workaround. I just clicked and dragged the DB file folder from my hard drive directory to the sidebar and it's now showing up. NOTICE that DB still DOES NOT show up in the Finder settings. In the past, it DID show and we could click the box to include it on the sidebar.
I'm going to do a restart and see if the DB folder stays on the sidebar. If you don't hear back from me, it did show up so this workaround worked. No news is good news.

Hey @Josephus F., sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Could you please let us know the status and version of the Dropbox desktop app installed on your computer as shown in your menu bar and your Dropbox folder's location as shown in the app's preferences under the sync tab?
Thanks so much!
DB folder location is seen here
Hi @Josephus F., it looks like your Dropbox folder is in the older location, and not in the new File Provider location.
It should still function as normal, with all the syncing features, since the sync icons are visible.
It looks OK now but this was Ventura OS
It does not look OK on Sonoma.
I do not see the DB icon in the screen menu so I cannot find the preferences for DB
The preferences for the Dropbox desktop application would be in the Dropbox menu bar icon at the top of the screen, near the clock, which I can see is visible in your screenshots.
I have two computers.Mac Book Air 15" with Sonoma and MacBook Pro 13" with Ventura installed.
Installing DB on Sonoma seems not possible
The DB icon is not visible in the meny bar in my computer that has Sonoma OS
The screenshot I have published belongs to another computer that has Ventura OS
Could you ensure that the Dropbox desktop application is running by opening it from the applications menu?
Klicking on takes you to the DB folder
But I see no settings.
Hey @Josephus F., what is the location of the Dropbox folder on the computer running Sonoma?
Location of the DB folder in the home folder
Okay, so if the Dropbox folder is not in your CloudStorage folder, can you please try to reinstall the app just by running the installer here and let me know how it goes?
Why not admit that DB is not working on Sonoma ?
As far as we're aware, the app does work normally on Sonoma.
Have you tried reinstalling the app, without uninstalling it first, using this link?
R U kidding me? there are others too that have the same problem
This topic should close since there is no solution
I'm looking at this thread and don't see a solution. I upgraded to Apple Sonoma and DB is no longer showing up on Favorites. Is there a fix in the works?
@shaferkg, just to clarify, do you still see the small Dropbox icon in your menu bar (at the top part of your screen)?
If you can’t find the Dropbox folder under your Locations either, please follow these steps, and let me know if you can locate it now.
Yes, the Dropbox icon shows on the menu bar but not in the Finder. I cannot find it to add to favorites as I could before upgrading to the new IOS.
Alright, let’s try something else.
Please click on the Dropbox icon in your menu bar this time, and then click on a small folder icon that should be showing at the top of the pop-up window (between a globe icon and the search bar). Are you being redirected to your local Dropbox folder now?
If not, please click on the avatar with your initials/profile picture > Preferences, and send me a screenshot of what you see under your Sync tab.
Which steps to follow ?
DB does not show up in the Location section of the SideBar, nor on the top screen menu. There is no setting option (using Sonoma 14.1)
Hi @Josephus F., if the Dropbox icon isn't appearing on the menu bar, could you ensure that the app is running from your Applications folder?
If it is running but you're not seeing the icon, try quitting other menu bar apps to see if the Dropbox icon appears, as Mac OS could be hiding it due to too many icons and not enough screen space.
DB version 185.4.6054 is in the Application folder. There is no other DB
There is free space in the menu bar apps
It should appear also in the Locations area on the Side Bar in Finder but is not there
Ok. I had the same issue with Sonoma. I found the app by quitting a couple of the menu bar apps that were running (one drive specfically). It's like there just was no longer room to view all the apps running in the menu bar.
Also, to view the drop box folder itself, look at the left navigation pane in finder. Hover over 'locations'. I did not see any links or folders or even an arrow to expand the view there until I hovered and clicked on the arrow that showed up.
Worked for me. Good luck.
