textClipping file is EMPTY

I am running Dropbox v181.5515 on OS X 13.5 and a .textClipping file shows zero bytes. Yes, I read that there's an issue, but when I click on this particular file in the Finder, it shows "Clipping contents: unknown." This file is supposed to have content, and I am worried that this issue is more widespread than just me or this one file.

Is Dropbox aware of this issue?

From what I understand, you’re currently running a beta desktop build (181.3.5515) on your Dropbox app, right?

Are you seeing the same error for all .textClipping files or just this one? Please upload a screenshot of the error, as well, to have a visual.

Finally, I’d like you to clarify the syncing status of this .textClipping file; is it available offline or online-only instead? If you’re not sure, you can upload a screenshot of its syncing icon, too.

Let me know, when you’re ready.

Yesterday I duplicated the file in Finder; the copy opens and shows content, but not the exact original copy. I am running v1813.5516 of Dropbox. I can't share a screenshot because the file contains private information.

Could you clarify why you believe this is related to Dropbox?

If you quit the Dropbox desktop application, does the issue occur again?

It is a cloud-based file; I need to download it to see its content. That's why I believe it's a Dropbox issue.

And when you download it, but then close the Dropbox app, does the issue persist, @ronbannon?

Have you set it to download locally?

If you are on a Mac it isn't now possible to force all files to stay locally so you probably need to move that file out of Dropbox or speak to the textClipping developers to see how they are going to update it to work across Dropbox and multiple devices now.
