Mac OS Beta Dropbox using "Cloud Storage Folder"...renaming files, creating folders, etc. super slow

Hi all,

I am on a fully up to date Mac OS 13.2.1 and Dropbox (beta) 170.3.5866 where it has moved your Dropbox sync folder into Cloud Storage within ones Library.

Ever since this upgrade and change over to the cloud storage-located folder, everything in the Finder within these Dropbox folders (that are part of Cloud Storage...) are CRAZY slow.  I have to literally wait a second or two after doing the key command for "New Folder" before I can type anything.  Or if I want to rename a file, again there is a very long delay before I am able to type anything.  Same for deleting a file/folder.  I have never seen anything like this.

In my two Maestral installations (that are not part of this Cloud Storage folder) I have no such delay whatsoever.  I'm also on a Mac Studio with an M1 Ultra, so there is no way that it is my computer that is causing this extremely discouraging slowdown.

Is this just me...? Is it a known issue because of Mac OS Ventura's use of this aggravating Cloud Storage folder or is it Dropbox?  It is driving me completely crazy to have to constantly wait to be able to type a file name or to wait to be able to name a folder I create.

Hi @alexanderwolfnyc, thanks for clarifying, and we might need the screen recording in a while.

Let me ask you to try something out first: can you quit the Dropbox app, and then try to open and take any actions (create folder, delete etc) within your Dropbox folder. When you do that, do you notice the same behavior?

Also, can you let me know the app's precise syncing status?

Hi there! Thanks for the fast reply!

These are all offline/fully synced files.  If it would help, I could do a mini screen record of the area of my screen where I replicate the issue.  It is very strange!

Are the files and folders marked as available offline, or online-only, when you trying to make changes or delete files?
