I want what I download to go to the hard disk and not to Dropbox.

Hello, first of all, I don't know if it's because there isn't one or what, but I haven't found anything to express myself in Spanish, which is my language.

And to what we are going, I notice that, when I browse and I download something, whether documents, images, audios or videos, this is stored in Dropbox but NOT on my hard drive and I want to have everything on my hard drive, Dropbox is supposed to be only for backups. I want to know how I can recover files to MY hard drive. I just downloaded a video and I don't even know where he sent it to me, it's already fine, this is very complex and I repeat, what I download, where it has to be first is on my hard drive, among other things because to top it off, I don't see a way to see what's in Dropbox, I don't know how to edit what I have saved.

And please, is there no help in Spanish? Well if so, that is discrimination.

You should see an option to change the language used by the forums in the upper-right corner of the page. Once you select Spanish, you'll see the Spanish categories and topics.

There are two possibilities here. First, Dropbox doesn't control where your files are saved when you download something through a browser. Your browser controls this. Make sure your browser is set to either save downloaded files to your Downloads folder, or prompt you for a location when you start a download.

The other possibility is that you've activated the Backup feature in Dropbox which MOVES your key folders such as Documents and Downloads into your Dropbox folder so they will sync. This results in files that you're saving in these folders to automatically sync to your Dropbox account online. If that's not your intent, you can disable the backup feature and choose to move those folders back to their original location outside of your Dropbox folder.

Also keep in mind that Dropbox isn't just a cloud-only folder, though it can be set up to be. By default, the Dropbox folder you see is actually on your local drive, and anything you save in it is located on your local drive, which then syncs with your account online.

If you want to ensure that the file is saved to your hard disk and not to Dropbox, you can change the default downloads folder in your web browser's settings. Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu. Scroll down to the "Downloads" section and click "Change" next to "Location". Select the folder on your hard disk where you want your downloads to be saved and click "OK". Mozilla Firefox: Open Firefox and click the three lines in the top right corner of the window. Select "Options" from the dropdown menu. Click on the "General" tab on the left side of the window. Scroll down to the "Downloads" section and click the "Browse" button next to "Save files to". Select the folder on your hard disk where you want your downloads to be saved and click "OK". Microsoft Edge: Open Edge and click the three dots in the top right corner of the window. Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu. Click on the "Downloads" section on the left side of the window. Click the "Change" button next to "Location". Hey @RamRock, like Rich suggested, if any file you download from a browser is going to your Dropbox, you might have enabled our backup feature.

The backup feature helps you back up your desktop, downloads and documents folders to Dropbox.

So, if your browser's download location is your downloads folder and you've enabled backup for that folder, it would make sense that the downloaded files are saved there.

If you open your local Dropbox folder, do you see a "PC/Mac" folder there?

And is your downloads folder in it?

No, this is too much for me. You make the tutorials with a very computer language, very technical and I, like millions of people over 60 years old, we are not good at the latest technology, nor do we understand any other language than plain language, not technical language.

So, please, what I want is to forget this. I will already keep backups on external devices, it is clear that these cloud systems are not for me, therefore, what I want now is to check what files I may have in Dropbox are NOT on my hard drive, DOWNLOAD THEM and totally disable Dropbox, I download things to make them MINE.

And by the way, I don't have MAC, my system is WINDOWS 11.
