How to sync my Drobo NAS with Dropbox

Hi there all,

I'm looking for some help please,

The ultimate goal is to have my Drobo NAS drives to automatically back up to Dropbox so I can view them on other computers/devices and also have it as an actual backup.

There any way of me automatically syncing this. I can't find anywhere on the Internet to explain how to do this even though I've seen in this community that some people have done it.

I have business advance with three users so I'm limited space,

If anyone can help me I'll be truly grateful for your help

Hi Joel,

Welcome to the Wild West of Dropbox when using large amounts of data, and it's completely backwards handling of it.

I don't personally have a Drobo, but looked into it for a friend, and from quick google searches it doesn't look like there's a way to directly sync Drobo with Dropbox. 😞 You could try and use something like ChronoSync etc, but as I've detailed at length [here](https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Integrations/Chronosync-and-Dropbox/td-p/566651), dropbox will give you massive issues if you don't store everything locally, which is the main issue I have with the service, and something they seem to be hard set on not changing in the near future. If Dropbox would allow itself to truly be a "cloud service", and allow you to ACCESS the files in the cloud, but not STORE them on your computer, all of these things would be much easier. But any time you want to access an online only file, Dropbox forces you to download that file in it's entirety to your local internal hard drive first. This isn't a big deal obviously with a few word documents, but try doing that with a 400 GB project, and you start to have storage concerns pretty quickly.

For these reasons and more, I just bought a Synology NAS (a ds1522+ to be exact), and Synology DOES allow you to sync directly with Dropbox, either one-way or bidirectionally, through their cloud sync app. It's beautiful, works great, and allows me to do exactly what I think you're trying to do, either backup your NAS to Dropbox, or backup your Dropbox to your NAS, essentially making your dropbox live locally and sync changes via the API. Sorry for the long post, but hope some of this may be helpful to you. 🙂

I sent a ticket to DROBO support to ask them if there is another apps that do a sync service.
