I know Transfer is still beta, but is there a way to turn off notifications for it? I get an email and a badge on the dropbox menubar icon every time a file is downloaded.
Thanks for the screenshots, @mnc50515!
Although there isn't currently a way to change the notification settings specifically for this feature, I'd be more than happy to pass your comments along to the dev team for review.
I understand that this may not be the ideal reply you were looking for, but I do hope it helps to some extent.
In the meantime, let me know if you have any other questions and I'll make sure to get back to you as soon as possible. Cheers!
Any email notifications that can be enabled/disabled can be found on your Notifications page, while any notifications from the Dropbox application can be enabled/disabled through Dropbox Preferences.
Transfer notices do not appear to be listed as an option.
Hi there @mnc50515,
Welcome to the Dropbox Community! Let's see what we can find.
As @Rich mentions, desktop app notifications can be changed from the Notifications section in your Preferences.
To ensure troubleshooting though, could you please send me a screenshot (without any personal info) of what you see on your Dropbox icon so as to have a better visual understanding of this?
Thanks in advance!

emails are as so...
Glad to hear that you're enjoying it, @mnc50515!
If you have any other questions or feedback for us, don't hesitate to give us a nudge.
In the meantime, have a lovely day ahead!
I hope dropbox team will add function to disable all notifications , aspesially from email. Now it's a nightmare getiing every hour email that someone download your file.
Been looking for the same function too, would love to use transfer more but the spam (especially getting an email for every download) is holding me back right now.
Is there made an option to disable the notification in between?
Hello @Oliver S.4, thanks for checking in with us!
Although there isn't currently an option, you can post on our Share an idea where other like-minded users can comment and upvote.
Hope this helps to some extent!
Like the idea of Transfer, but there's too many steps and too much noise. My ideal solution would involve right-clicking a file and selecting "Copy link to Dropbox Transfer". No wizards, no dialogs, just a link on my clipboard. I don't want any tray popups, badges, or e-mails about it being downloaded (or not downloaded/expiring). It's great that I can check its status on the website, and that's all I need.
I completely agree! Please add a function to disable transfer notificiations. It's too much.
Thanks!
If I can add too the dicussion for the development team. The number of 'claimed' downloads (and thus messages). Can not be correct. I'm getting loads of download messages for the same file when it's send to only one person. Might be something to look into.

Use email filters to effectively do the same thing. I have mine set up to just automatically mark as read and filter into their own folder so they bypass my inbox. Lots of tools to manage things you don't have direct control over .
This is really annoying. I have to say, even just a month ago I loved Dropbox and would never think of cancelling my account and going for another service. Now though, I'm reconsidering. There's just too many small annoyances with Dropbox these days, like the ridiclous state of the mobile apps, the Mac app not having the patience to wait for the OS to unlock a drive, files with "illegal" letters simply not downloading with no warning, the app needing a sync restart to even see new files, etc.
Not sure what happend to the Dropbox of yersteryear, but it seems the current dev team is in over their head and just adding features without the polish needed to make it a smooth experience. That doesn't result in a product worth the current asking price.
Gee, this still hasn't been fixed while it is one of the most annoying things of Dropbox Transfer. Is it so hard to program a button that disables getting dozens of emails from Dropbox?
Btw, the alternative is just to mark them as spam.
They did add an option to disable emails when someone downloads, which does help some... but you have to manually enable it everytime you create a transfer. which is annoyying. I should be able to set it to default off.
I also still get summary emails of each transfer and when its about to expire.
PRETTY PLEASE SOMEONE FINALLY PAY ATTENTION UP THERE IN DROPBOX LAND! Constant interruptions with these notifications. We actually decided to get rid of our Hightail account since Transfer is so much easier to use. So, from one POV it's adding so much value to the Dripbox service, but from another POV it's just seriously faulty.
Why is there no option to simply decline being inundated with popups AND emails??? Doesn't seem like too much to ask for. Frankly, I am guessing most people would be pretty happy if you just nixed at least one – forget the option if that's too much for dev. Pick emails or notifications, but for the sake of sanity not BOTH!
THANK YOU WONDERFUL DROPBOX PEOPLE! 😊
Happen to me the same! Please Dropbox Transfer, get this featrure!
HeyUpdating the feed a bit. I'm using Dropbox Transfer because it's very very useful, no need to use other softwares or products but getting an email for each transfer becomes annoying. To have it only as notifications in the dropbox app should be enough.
Please Dropbox work on this !
Was this ever resolved? I see the post is dated October 2019 and haven't been able to find a solution for this.
Hi Lusil
It seems it still is not possible to turn off dropbox transfer notifications? They are very annoying. Please can you look into this and advise?
Cheers
Anthony
Hey there @Anthony Cook, thanks for joining the discussion here and sorry to be jumping in here.
It's true that there has been no change on this recently, so I'd suggest upvoting the relevant idea to show your interest.
Let us know if you have anything else to ask or add in the meantime, Anthony!
This would be a huge improvement if this can be achieved!
Went to give a vote for the other thread. It's crazy that it's been so long and we still can't turn off notifications and badge counter for downloads. Good god.
I am also requesting that DropBox create a feature that allows us to turn on an off the option for notifications to show up as red numbers in the DropBox icon at the top of the screen. I need to see if DropBox is syncing and the red numbers obscure it. You can see the sync mini icon at the same time as the red number is showing.
In addition, create a feature to allow us to turn on and off the option to receive email notifications for every action we take in DropBox.
Hi @PR8, you can request this feature by posting on the Ideas board for other users to vote on.
Was just directed here by support. After a couple back and forth emails over two days, where they insisted I just needed to go to settings to turn off these notifications, they were like "oh, whoops, guess you can't. Maybe go post the idea and see if anyone agrees?"
Of course I see the idea was already posted 1,206 days ago, and no one has done anything about it.
How does it make sense to add a new type of notification and not take the trivial additional step of adding a checkbox for it alongside the other checkboxes to control notifications?!
