i need to know how to clear the notification panel. i got sum notification which i need to clear from panel. pls help
Hey there @NG3 - how are you today?
Could you please clarify if you're referring to the desktop app, the website version or our mobile application?
Thanks!
Same question here... ALL OF THEM, especially the Desktop Menu on Mac in my case ! There should definitely be a way to delete all notifications, not just HIDE them and defintely no one by one.. there needs to be a bulk way for doing this. Sometimes really old ones from ages ago as in years... reappear.. BUGGY.
Thank you for your feedback on this one Ian - much appreciated. I'll be passing it on to our developers for future improvements.
In the meantime, note that you can disable or enable notifications on the Dropbox desktop application by following these steps:
1) Click on the small Dropbox icon in your menu bar2) Click on the gray colored gear icon3) Select "Preferences..."4) Toggle the boxes of the notifications you'd like to enable or disable.
[To remove specific notifications you already have in the notifications panel of the Dropbox desktop application, you can click the three dots at the upper right corner of the notification you'd like to remove, and then click remove.]
I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any more feedback or questions @ianstudio!
This would be all well and good if there were actually three dots somewhere on a notification. I have random notifications from 1, 2 years ago that just won't go away. Meanwhile, I no longer get useful notifications of new file updates.
Could you forward a screenshot of that so I can get a better view of the matter at hand @bsteve?
Also, note that the desktop application can display notifications on your computer when changes are detected in your Dropbox account while you should be able to choose which notifications you'll receive as well:
Let me know how this goes!
Hello
I agree with all the community requests about the need to be able to hide (or otherwise permanently remove) notifications in bulk.
Walter, we do not necessarily want to TURN OFF the notifications. That is easy to do.
Our issue is having to go through each of the received notifications *in two steps* (!!) to get rid of a notification we have dealt with.
There should be an option to delete all "read" notifications.
And if we are going through them one by one to delete them, DB should learn that we are not trying to register a complaint about an obscene notification. We are trying to clear our workspace. The 2-step remove procedure should fade out.
Please can you give us a fix for this immediately?
Thanks
Thanks for your input on this one @claire m.16!
Even though I'm not in any decision making team and cannot comment on when or if this gets implemented, I'll make sure to pass your comments on to our dev team in my internal feedback report - thank you for showing your interest in this.
I'm logging this as a feature request for an option to clear all read notifications from the desktop app's menu.
If there's anything else you'd like to add, please let me know Claire; I'll be happy to follow up!
Also Walter, please include in your report that this thread has been viewed 1088 times. That means it is significant. Thanks
claire
I'll make a note of this too Claire - thanks for the suggestion.
Have a great day!
I would also like to see better management of notifications.
With over 50 programs of various types clamouring for attention on a daily basis it become a significant (and unnessary) chore to keep them cleaned up. I hope your programmers can keep that in mind.
What I would like to see is:
1) a one click dismiss
2) a one click delete (with verification)
3) Access to the notification database with simple database managment tools.
The information in the notifications can be useful, it is not clear what removal means. Is it deleted or just hidden? If hidden how can I see them? If not deleted why not?
Very clearly stated Michael.M224
I agree with all your points.
Go for it Walter!
Claire
Hey there @Michael M.224 - thanks for providing your precise, descriptive feedback; it really helps a bunch!
I'll make sure all your comments are passed to the product team; your constructive feedback is what helped us improve our services and features all these years after all.
On a side note, I've also moved this post under the 'Share an Idea' section of our Community for more visibility. Other users can find it and upvote it too!
Happy Monday people!
Thanks Walter!
If I can find the shared idea I will definitely upvote.
Very appropriate requests. I would like to add my strong wish for this feature, at least the ability to select multiple notices before deleting them with the three-dot menu.
I am suprised to see in 2019 that you cannot clear the read history in notifications. Easy fix for a service I am paying for.
Thanks for your input on this one @Tech-Daddy - I'll pass your comments on to our dev team in my internal feedback report to let them know about this.
If there's anything else you'd like to add, don't hesitate to let me know; I'm only a post away!
For gosh sake Walter, reading all these descriptions makes me wonder how the developers can sleep at night.
Why would this request to be able to delete all read notices, be a low-priority issue?
Why are the developers taking weeks, months, in fact years to address this?
I'm not in a decision making team so I won't be able to comment on when or if this will be implemented Claire.
On the bright side, I found the following feature request in our 'Share an Idea' section:
https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox/Request-to-delete-Notifications-from-the-Dropbox-desktop/idi-p/202297
You might want to take a look and upvote it too
Love your resolute optimism Walter, but reading the posts you highlight we can hardly talk about a "bright side"!
The inability to delete useless and unwanted read notifications is seriously annoying your active user base.Suggestions to stop "push" are feckless.
Not sure what it takes for the decision making team to wake up.The community has amply expressed itself. There is no doubt that this is a no-brainer fix and that it is needed.
Well, now I cannot unsubscribe from this thread! All the forums I have participated have an unsubscribe option, but I cannot find one on this one. I checked under my message, my profile, looked around in other places but have not been able to find the unsubscribe option. I sure hope it is here but well hidden for some reason. Will someone show me how to unsubscribe from the forum replies?

I found the answer in the e-mail message and hope that I have successfully unsubscribed. Phew!
Glad to hear you found it @ACEkin!
If you'd like to unsubscribe from notifications within our Community's platform, you should be able to find an option to 'Unsubscribe' from the ellipsis button (...) on the upper right corner of the thread.
Hope this helps!
The Notifications display has recently changed! I think I am satisfied with the new setup as it no longer bothers me with 5 year old "notifications."
Yup, same problem here on Windows 7. 3 and 5 year-old notifications, no way to hide or remove. What gives DB?
I have also noticed a recent change, slightly for the better. I can now "read" all notifications with one click and move them to the "read" comment section.
However now there does not appear to be a way to hide them at all.
I will guess this is an indication that our concerns have been heard and this is a work in progress. I sincerely hope this is not the end result.
So for the record I will complain that this fix is not enough and thank Walter for being the best moderator ever, in this universe, in my experience.
Also for all the other complainers that think this is an easy task to code, please think again. Writing foolproof simple code for an almost infinite variety of devices is never easy. This problem is not an indication that dropbox is broken, we just do not like what they have done with this feature which does not degrade the primary purpose of dropbox, in my opinion. As oppose to smart sync which does. That is another thread but it does mean that the programmers attentions are probably focused elsewhere.
A screenshot? Is it our task to remind dropbox how they implemeted notifications? Just open up any mac and look at the notifications. There are no three dots there.
Please also check any other platforms that dropbox runs on and check that notifications can be cleared.
It is a moving target. This AM all my "notifications" have been cleared (along with the elipsis).
Meanwhile, my Notifications center has new tabs (Recent, Notifications), new options (easily toggle between My activity and Team activity!), and still absolutely no way to clear the deck. It's fascinating!
Same issue, very annoying.
