How to sync changes only from my online Dropbox account to my Windows machine and not vice versa?
I accidentally messed up two subfolders in my Dropbox folder, and deleted them. Dropbox was not running. I still have copies of those folders in my Dropbox account. How can I stop Dropbox syncing the changes to the cloud, i.e. deleting those folders from my account, when I run the app on my PC? I'd like to download them…

When I right-click, the only options I get are make online only/ view on Dropbox.com/ manage hard drive space. "Manage hard drive space" lets me move files to online only but not to "always available". The…

My Dropbox desktop app was updated on my Windows device. Now I can't tell if my content is synced.
OK, so the day I dreaded seems to have finally come. Dropbox rolled out its "new appearance model" to production, bringing the end of the era of status icons overlaid on program icons and, instead, in their own neat little column carved out for themselves. Yes, my Dropbox updated today to version 227.4.4774. 🙄🙄 So, in the…

Dropbox has worked fine for many years on my Lenovo Thinkpad X1, then suddenly stopped working. The link on the start menu became inactive. How can I show online-only folders on my Windows machine?
I have a help ticket ongoing but maybe someone else has an answer in the meantime. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Dropbox on my laptop to opt out of the Windows update and try to avoid the conflicted folders it kept creating. It's created the Dropbox folder anew, with the few files in it online only, but since I selected all…

However certain folders can be accessed, but others shows the same issue: In the status bar, Dropbox seems…

I can't save an Adobe PDF file with Windows File Explorer open
I can't save an edited PDF with the Windows file explorer open. I thought it was because another user had the file open, but then I discovered that I can save the file if I close the file explorer first, which doesn't make sense. I get an Adobe Acrobat message stating, "The document could not be saved. The file may be…

My files/folders started re-syncing on their own and I can't make them available offline.
For reasons unknown, Dropbox opted to re-sync all files and folders. After waiting hours for this syncing process to complete, countless files and folders still show in Windows Explorer that the folder is awaiting syncing (the two circular arrow lines). All of these folders/files need to be available offline but I see now…

Let users remove Dropbox from the Windows Explorer navigation pane
Dropbox continues to force a navigation pane icon into Windows Explorer without providing any user-facing option to disable or reposition it. Even after I remove it from the registry, Dropbox re-inserts it on every update or restart. This is an unacceptable override of user system preferences and violates UI conventions by…

I'm confused with the available and available offline status of my Windows files/folders.
My Dropbox for Windows app is currently updating. The sync settings seem to have changed to be more compatible with Windows, I take it. It's still currently indexing, but anyway. New Dropbox files sync as online-only on Windows, even though I want them to be available offline.
I am a long-time user of DropBox, having been a very early adopter. I have used the program successfully across several computers, phones and tablets, pretty much without issues. File explorer is the only Windows 11 app that can see a Dropbox folder
Other third party file managers can't see the dropbox folder. If I create a new folder and move the files to it in the preferences, then the created folder disappears from file managers like Ztree or Files. When I uninstall dropbox, the folder reappears without the contents. This is acting like a cell phone connected when…
