Device: iPhone 5s (iOS 12.4.8)
When accessing dropbox.com using Safari, it shows "your current browser version is not supported".
What is the minimum supported version of Safari browser for Dropbox?
Hi there, @John-Smith.
Thanks for clarifying.
Just wanted to jump in and let you know that we've checked back with our team and we can confirm that we no longer support Safari 12.
We'll also update this information as soon as possible.
Thank you.
Hey there, @John-Smith, happy Friday!
Safari versions 11 and earlier aren’t supported when using our website.
You can see more about that at this Help Center article.
If you have any questions, let me know, thanks!
However, the device I am using is iPhone 5s (iOS 12.4.8), and its Safari version is 12.1.2. Accessing Dropbox.com is still not supported.User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 12_4_8 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/12.1.2 Mobile/15E148 Safari/604.1
Hi @John-Smith, does that happen with Safari only, or with any other browser too?
Can you send me a screenshot of the error message you get when trying to access our website when using Safari?
Thank you for your reply.I haven't tested other browsers yet, but I think this may be related to your browser version policy.I also tested with an iPhone 6 (iOS 12.5.5) and got the same result. This seems to be a recent issue because I was able to use it normally before. Here are some screenshots:
Sorry to jump in here, @John-Smith.
Are you using Safari on your computer, as well? If yes, can you test this there, and let me know if you see the exact same error?
Hi @Nancy,
Sorry, I currently don't have a Mac with Safari 12 available for testing. However, when testing with Chrome using a custom User-Agent:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/12.0.0 Safari/605.1.15
to simulate Safari 12, the result is still not supported.
Hi @Nancy ,
I also tested the custom User-Agent on Safari for Mac, and the result was the same.
However, when I changed the User-Agent to "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/13.0.0 Safari/605.1.15", it worked normally.
Hi again, @John-Smith! Thanks for testing this out.
I’m wondering if the issue lies with your device’s OS actually (Dropbox supports iOS 15 or later), since iOS and Safari are closely linked.
If possible, can you try a different browser on your mobile device, and let me know if that works?
I’d just like to point out that if your device’s OS is no longer supported by Dropbox, you may not have a recent enough web browser version to access the website from there.
@Nancy thanks for your reply.
If Dropbox no longer supports Safari 12, please update this page.
Sorry for any misunderstandings. In general, Safari 12 is supported by Dropbox.
However, if your OS isn’t, then Dropbox may not be accessible, even if you’re using Safari versions 11 and later.
Hi @Nancy it's okay. The current issue is that although Safari 12 is supported by Dropbox, it is not supported on my iPhone 5s and iPhone 6, which are running iOS 12 and using Safari 12.I understand that the Dropbox app only supports iOS 15 and above. However, I am not using the app, but rather accessing it through the web browser. I believe this should not be related to the system version.
Hi @Hannah, thanks for your reply.
I got it.
