Nick76 wrote:do you think there is any way to recover these files by contacting Dropbox? No sorry :( Once you hit 30 days they are unrecoverable now. Even upgrading to paid plans wont work as it isnt retroactive. Do you happen to have a device maybe that hasnt sync'd with Dropbox you could recover from?
-
I suspect its due to the fact that the time zones will be out of sync on your device when you use a VPN. That is how Dropbox works out what files are in date etc. So by using a VPN to say, America, it would be confused as the time on your machine wouldnt match what it was expecting given the connection it had.
-
Also, just thinking, you can actually upgrade and cancel immediately after it goes through. You keep the plan for the duration of the payment but it then wont auto renew :) Just incase you are liable to forget!
-
Most of these offers are one offs. However, you do get lots and lots of warning before the next charge goes through so you have time to cancel if you wish.

I suspect Dropbox is blocking download helpers/tools if I'm honest (especially if the URL has been edited to force a download etc). This is something they have done before to deter abuse on it. You may want to log a ticket at http://www.dropbox.com/support and ask. I seriously doubt its an an account issue as if it was the…

djrdaniel wrote:Is it true that deleted folders can still take up space if I didn't leave them before deleting them? Deleted files DO NOT take up quota. But if you didnt leave the share you can still access it so yes, they are still in your account. Click on the three dots next to the name and leave.

Do they work if not in a download helper?

Have you tried a reinstall? Note that if its the work account I dont believe there are limits on it unless an Admin has applied those separately.

Momo2025 wrote:i installed the dropbox app manually Thats probably wiped it I'm afraid. It will only work from the default app. The only thing I can think of is to machine format your device and retry it.

Have you tried following the instructions to move from one drive to another? That should work for you: https://help.dropbox.com/installs/move-dropbox-folder
-
Usually this happens when people accidentially have 2 accounts. How did you upgrade? If it was by card try following https://help.dropbox.com/billing/find-credit-card-charge

Its likely resolved now as Dropbox had a service issue earlier. http://status.dropbox.com

It shoudnt be as its marked as resolved. Try a CTRL + R on the link.

Can I just state that the new UI on Mac which hides the quota for people is absolutely ridiculous. Why on earth are we FORCED to go to the website to see the quota of our account instead of seeing it in the app where you now show our hard drive space?!
-
Hi @"RFB" To do that simply log on to the account which you use on the first machine (i.e. the desktop) and it will sync for you. So just download from http://www.dropbox.com/downloading on machine 2 and install :)

spiels wrote:I just want to ensure nobody has access to any folders/subfolders. How can I do this quickly? I'm afraid you cannot. There is no way to check who is in shares without going to each share individually. In terms of the unshare error can you post a screenshot of what you see?

Have you tried a reboot at all? Restarted Dropbox?
-
If you mean if you delete them from the share then no, the files wont be deleted, they'll stay in your account
-
You'll need to log a ticket with support at http://www.dropbox.com/support Note it must have been copyright materials as large file download bans are temporary.

Dropbox only allows a set number of files and folders to be backed up - namely Documents / Desktop etc. or, whole hard drives. You cannot choose any folder on your machine, I'm afraid. In terms of why button isnt working, have you tried a restart?
-
You can go to http://www.dropbox.com/share and leave via there.
