No they arent 🙂

Dropbox has a hidden cache that stores all files which are used, or, turned to selective sync etc. for a few days. That means that while they appear deleted and not visible etc. they are still on the Mac for a few days in case you need to recover them. For example if you unsync a folder before its all uploaded it just…

The only person who will be able to see them is you. Nobody else can see the visibility of what has been uploaded - even the person uploading them although they should know what they selected!

Without paying for an upgrade you cannot if you need edit access. You need to have enough quota on your account to be able to access the share. If you just need readonly access ask for a shared link instead 🙂 Or if you need to edit work download it from a shared link and send back via File Requests.

@"BlueDiamond" wrote:Hello Thank you for jumping onboard - I need to use the same email to create a new account - so Dropbox takes me straight back to the original account. Any advice welcomed. Simply put - you cannot. Unless the people who have control of the email give you access to it OR you can change it yourself at…

@"NopeBob" wrote: Hi Hannah thanks for your reply but I don't believe this to be the case for this account which is why I am confused. Highly disappointed in the service Dropbox accounts dont just vanish unless not used for over a year. So, an easy way to check is via www.dropbox.com/events - what does it say there? Also…

@"BenDBX" wrote:Hi @"Brambles", Thanks for checking in. We're still looking into it, but I'll let you know when we have an update! Can it not be escalated to update the Status page? This issue has been going on now since last Wednesday but still isnt on the status page? 😞

@"NopeBob" wrote: As it appears from the above conversation that you are recommending recovery from other services, does that mean Dropbox has lost the data belonging to this class of user? How long ago did you last log on? If it was over 12 months all data is removed for inactivity.

If they are the owner you probably cannot delete it either. The only other option would be to create a new account with a differing email.
-
Without them doing the above there is no way to change it. If they dont, wont or cant the only alternative you have is to set up a new account. Dropbox wont change this for you because that account is owned by the person. If a company wants admin rights over things they need to be paying for a Business plan which gives…

Dropbox needs to be running to sync. It should auto start up unless you've altered this. Possibly worth reinstalling and seeing what happens? www.dropbox.com/downloading
-
Have you checked if Dropbox is running on your PC? What does it say if you mouse over its icon on the status bar?
-
Dropbox doesnt remove space from people for referrals unless they have been known to abuse the system. Same for other space such as getting started etc. However, a lot of other quotas are time limited AND do not transfer between accounts if you have multiple ones. You can see whats happening to quota at…

@"Jethro51" wrote:someone else's image downloaded to my phone from the cloud. Nice. This isnt Dropbox that has done it - because Dropbox doesnt download and sync photos (or in fact any file at all) to mobiles. It is one of the biggest complaints people have about the product on mobile. So, if the file is on your mobile its…

You can link two accounts together if one is a paid business one via https://help.dropbox.com/account-access/link-unlink-two-accounts Note that it has to be a paid BUSINESS one (i.e. a minimum 3 user licence) to apply to that. Paid accounts dont. My suspicion is that as its not in the default Dropbox location its not…

Hi @"ashleyjoeann" As you are not on a paid account (the Lenovo one is a free one) and you are signing in and out are you moving the Dropbox directory to a different place on the Mac each time? I suspect that is why it isnt working as the cloud only sync needs to be in the specific place for it to work (Cloud Storage…

Hi @"mr78" It should still be in their accounts, however, they wont be able to add/edit or amend the files unless they upgrade to get more quota. They will be able to download it to their local devices though.
-
Hi @"Jillian123" That is something you will need to ask Christie or Jessica direct. I'd suggest dropping them a message on the Champions Slack channel 🙂

I assume this is for Dropbox for Business so you will need to contact www.dropbox.com/business . The sales team should be able to help

As an individual that is the maximum capacity you can have. You would need a different plan, probably with more seats: www.dropbox.com/plans show all available options
-
Hi You get the person to go to www.dropbox.com/account and change the name and email associated with it - the person who had the account initially needs to do this as they own the account (it may send an email to confirm the changes).
-
Why cant you? What is it saying or doing? What is the process etc.? We need more info here - remember we cannot see over your shoulder.
-
Yes thats right. You can move it via https://help.dropbox.com/installs/move-dropbox-folder
-
You need to install Dropbox wherever and then put all of the data you want to sync pointed at \Dropbox\UserFolder. Note that Dropbox will install its program files to C:\ and that cannot be altered, but, you can change the Dropbox directory folder via the advanced install options.
-
Hi @"Steve R.8" Dropbox will only sync what is inside of the Dropbox directory. So to have it sync to Dropbox and to your home computer (and viceversa) you need to be saving the data to Dropbox.

@"pMarie" wrote:I had the same question, which your answer does not answer. Does the black button with white dot equal on or off? This option is on: If the bar is white and button black it is off.

Is the email account active? If so you need to contact support via www.dropbox.com/support. Do this while logged out - even here (the forums). Consider using an incognito window to do so

File requests actually works really well - *whispers* its one of the upgrades to Dropbox I really do like! 🙂
