Would Selective Sync help at all? That way you can remove folders locally you dont need anymore.

Martin D.22 wrote:"How can I change my email address on one of my devices? I need to change the Dropbox email address on one device" You arent changing email. You are changing account. You need to log out of the account already installed and add the new one.

Martin D.22 wrote:I do not see a security tab in the Dropbox browser interface https://www.dropbox.com/account/general : And if all else fails just unlink, uninstall, shut down and reboot and reinstall via http://www.dropbox.com/downloading

You need to unlink Dropbox from your device and then relog on using the email you wish to use. Before you relog on, however, make sure you have either moved the files out of the Dropbox directory, or, deleted them, or they'll sync to the account you change.

Martin D.22 wrote:I need to change the Dropbox email address on one device to a different email address on that device It isnt possible to do that. You can only have 1 email address per account. So if you want a different email on a device you need to use a separate account as Rich said.

And nothing shows on there at all? How long ago did you last use the account?

bulldogman wrote:I can certainly take it our of DropBox, but what do you mean by "letting it sync completely"? It isnt up to date, however, for some unknown reason. So when taking it out of the Dropbox directory you need to wait/see if it does a sync to notice the removal of it. OR even better still, reboot the device.

Is the file open at all? Can you close it if it is. If not try dragging the file out of Dropbox, letting it sync completely and then readding it.

Is Dropbox running and did you update the files INSIDE of the Dropbox folder? If it is running what does it say if you mouse over its icon on the status bar?

Also try and delete temp internet and cache files. You can also see all edits at http://www.dropbox.com/events

To me an acceptable response is 24 to 48 hours (working). Unless you are paying for expediated support then you cannot expect things to be done instantaniously - especially over a Bank Holiday weekend. For the products and services I cannot be without I have paid redundancy and backup systems in place based upon business…

All you can do is log a ticket with support and wait I'm afraid (remembering it is a bank holiday weekend as well). DO NOT KEEP LOGGING TICKETS! If you do you just move yourself to the back of the queue everytime. You can log them at http://www.dropbox.com/support while not logged in - even to here. So use something like…

Maud20 wrote:What can I do? You need to wait the ban out - you get one chance to remove it and thats it. Usually its for 24 hours, however, each ban does get longer. Alternatively you can remove it by paying for an upgrade (note, not a trial).

You arent using any symlinks or junctions are you? Are any of the files open?

Butl Nor wrote:will Dropbox ever support this? I am really considering to become a paying user, but without this, it's useless. Nobody will know until it happens. However, my personal opinion is no - at least not in the short to medium term. Dropbox initially allowed it for backup when it was in beta but removed it…

DroppingJ wrote:Since May 1 is only 2 weeks away, that must be known by now. Please find out. In terms…

The web is really really poor at uploading huge volumes of data - as it relies upon your internet connection being superb. Unless you are going to do it in much much smaller batches download and install the client and just move the folder (or copy it) in to the \Dropbox directory

The main difference is what you can do with them. Sync'd folders you can manipulate, edit the files within on other devices, share links to them and work on them on the Dropbox website for example. Backups are static backups that do update changes BUT not in real time like sync'ing does - and you cannot manipulate / edit…

How are you uploading? If its via the desktop client Dropbox uploads and creates folder structures first, then it populates files from smallest to largest. So it will appear random for quite awhile until it finishes.

No, you will need to use a third party program to do anything like that.
