Which version of Dropbox are you using? Mousing over its icon on status bar should tell you.

Is Dropbox running at all? Does it appear at the top near the clock etc. and if so what does it say if you mouse over its icon?

LuC13 wrote:(apparently, moving a file via the web interface shows up there as an addition and a deletion event, for each file individually...). Ah, I'd not realised it still did that on web. It used to do it via a computer with connected devices but has been changed :( If you have an idea of what folder it is in could you…

karbox wrote:Just wanted to follow along here in case there are any updates from the community, too. There isnt anything wrong as such with Dropbox so there wont be updates here - sharing suspensions are due to sharing illegal content (including DCMA takedowns), viruses, malware or spam abuse reports. Have you looked at http://www.dropbox.com/events ? Other than that there is no other tracked list I'm afraid.

jop25 wrote:Is it possible for Dropbox to find these files still? The original file link is no longer active. No. Sorry. The only people who can restore that are the people who initially created the files. However, they can also only restore for 180 days (assuming its a paid account) which means its almost certainly beyond…

You need to log a ticket at http://www.dropbox.com/support - will only work if a paid user, or, hopefully a Dropbox team memeber will see and pick it up here instead.
-
Have you checked http://www.dropbox.com/events to see if you can restore that way?

Rich wrote:Another option could be if people are requesting access after receiving the link and you're granting it, in which case they're requesting edit access to the folder and you're granting it. PMGSLV wrote:Sent out the new link, got the same results. Has somebody actually changed the file, or, are you clicking on the link and seeing you can edit it? If so thats correct as Dropbox detects you are an owner and so have the rights to do so.

You can already do that - just replace the file and it will update the file on links that you have. You dont need to do anything special just replace the file. If you have it on a computer just re-save it.

You need to contact support at http://www.dropbox.com/support to ask for help as it seems your account has been banned for something other than bandwidth.

TERRACE_87 wrote:When I type any of those search strings into a Dropbox search, it says no results found Hi @"TERRACE_87" This isnt possible with Dropbox, no. NHCobra wrote:s it possible to do this and if so, how... Hi @"NHCobra" It isnt with Dropbox, no. Unless you used a document which had a shared link to each file on it? You would need to use a program to do this itself. You can often do it in Word etc. if the files are all in one document and link between them.

HHudson1 wrote:But at some point (unsure exactly when, a few years ago maybe?) it stopped. The official Dropbox apps have never ever done this - in fact its been a common request/complaint since Dropbox started. So, if you had that you were using a third party uploader instead of Dropbox itself.

You can! Use Dropbox Requests :) https://help.dropbox.com/share/create-file-request

You will need to contact support via http://www.dropbox.com/support or hope its seen here as your sharing has been suspended. Usually because of spam or malware on the files - although false positives are possible.

tciftci34 wrote:I do see events going back to 5/22 so very recent and nothing further. As you see nothing further that means nothing else happened on this account prior to this date OR it wasnt used for 6+ months. Do you have any computers or mobiles connected to the account at all? Or have you previously?

At the moment if you want to stay as you are dont…

petermooreworld wrote:No, the program using Studio Cellos is not open. Bother!! I was, genuinely, banking on that one working. Hopefully somebody will see this on here from Dropbox tomorrow then when offices reopen.

You need to contact support via http://www.dropbox.com/support as they've removed your sharing rights for some reason (malware, spam or viruses are most likely - often false positives though).

What happens if you look at it at http://www.dropbox.com/home? Can you delete from there or see where it came from in "Previous Versions" ?

Is the program thats using Studio Cellos open? Dropbox doesn't sync files while they are open. Also.... petermooreworld wrote:repairing the hard links. There isnt a way to do this. I've seen you've already created a Suggestion for it, however: Automatically delete a photo from phone after its been uploaded to dropbox | The Dropbox Community

It depends what you did... if you copied them to Dropbox so you have them now in two locations (one on Dropbox and one in say My Documents) you can safely delete the second one (My Docs) as there is no link between the two - you will get out of date files AND use twice the hard drive space. Then just work on the files…
