Ive just updated to 421.1.2 and issue still exists.

The web is really really poor at uploading huge volumes of data - as it relies upon your internet connection being superb. Unless you are going to do it in much much smaller batches download and install the client and just move the folder (or copy it) in to the \Dropbox directory

The main difference is what you can do with them. Sync'd folders you can manipulate, edit the files within on other devices, share links to them and work on them on the Dropbox website for example. Backups are static backups that do update changes BUT not in real time like sync'ing does - and you cannot manipulate / edit…

How are you uploading? If its via the desktop client Dropbox uploads and creates folder structures first, then it populates files from smallest to largest. So it will appear random for quite awhile until it finishes.

RoseVeebee wrote:I had hoped the 30 File History Dropbox offers would be enough for me I'd always recommend at least 2 or 3 different backup tools. And the 30 day recovery is usually enough - if it connects and works. However as its not connecting it can't work. What I'd also say though is every system will be the same, if…

No, you will need to use a third party program to do anything like that.

Unfortunately if Events doesnt show that it was edited or changed then there have been no updates or changes/amendments to it that have sync'd to Dropbox for whatever reason. Its possible the software didn't connect, there was an error (e.g. the app was open while trying to sync, out of space or a conflict). However, if it…

I'm able to replicate this issue on v420.1.2

I'm afraid the staring of images just puts it on to the favourite/starred page. There is no way to then mass move things after that
-
I've moved it to the API forum for you. Its possible, as your post isn't clear that its about using developer tools, that somebody else moved it to a more appropriate area
-
There is no such feature that I'm aware of on Dropbox, but, check API documentation and also if needed ask on the API Forums.

You can use this: https://help.dropbox.com/share/create-file-request :)

alekso89 wrote:Does Dropbox have such functionality? How do you mean validation? Can you elaborate a bit. If you mean you want to manually approve photos you would need to individually upload. Camera Uploads would just upload everything in your Camera Roll.

AFrench wrote:What is that parameter and why did it change? Its worth remembering that Dropbox isnt a hosting platform. They have often done changes to the way things are shared via links to stop people hosting. The changes to links is something that has happened before, and almost certainly will happen again. I'd strongly…

You will need to contact Dropbox via www.dropbox.com/support for any assistance.

Pleased its sorted! If you need to send something back to them you can ask for a requests link :)

souseran wrote:However, when I look at usage, it shows "Using 0 GB of 2 GB space." That means the shared folder is bigger than your free space (i.e. it is larger than 2gb in space). You either need to get more space, get the shared folder smaller OR if you only need read only access ask for a shared link instead.…

chlojito wrote:I'm just thinking, surely they have backups, right? If an account is removed due to inactivity, or, files are deleted and not recovered within the recovery window (30 days for free users) there is no recovery possible. The files are removed - you are warned this repeatedly on the emails sent. Dropbox removes…

The Dropbox Cache is probably full, have you tried emptying that? It may also be worth just doing a simple reinstall: www.dropbox.com/downloading

Nancy wrote:even in the occasion where the Dropbox account was downgraded. That isnt correct. Dropbox has a policy now of deleting data of accounts that are over quota. So, if the account downgraded in say Jan 2024 the data would have been wiped by now.

Unfortunately you have - somebody is downloading it repeatedly, or, its been picked up by a website or something and they are streaming it.
-
Hi :) Do you have any links at www.dropbox.com/links ? Do you stream things to your mobile devices at all?

It sounds like you have agreed to Dropbox using Dropbox backup which relocates certain directories in to its own structure and leaves symlinks/junctions at the original. Have a look at https://help.dropbox.com/organize/how-to-use-dropbox-backup to disable it.
