As long as you replace the file identically (i.e. open and save the file in Word, for example, on your computer and just hit SAVE) it will just update. If you delete it first, however, then the link would break. A better work around, more stable, is to share a link to a folder and update / edit files inside that :)

coppo23 wrote:I need to move(create shortcut to) This is where it wont work in Dropbox I'm afraid - Dropbox doesn't sync symlinks or junctions, it just ignores them. However, you mention the Google API, so if you are good at programming could you do something with Dropbox's API?

That isnt the lastest version actually. This one is: Stable Build 223.4.4909 | The Dropbox Community Is the update not updating as there is an error or are you not wanting to update thinking its most recent?

Have a look at Dropbox Rewind which may do it all for you in one go :)

As I said before the file isnt its the link or the transfer. Files do not expire. I posted the URL's for you to see what transfers and links you have so you can see them, or, if you click on the notification you received it will take you to it and tell you what it is.
-
Just to confirm, again, that Dropbox does not expire files. They are not removed. There is no such thing as 'expiring files' as I said - your other post I've killed off so things dont get complicated. Except, as I said above, files are only removed if you are over quota or inactive. But after warning.

Warren J. wrote:Is there such a thing? Not as such. http://www.dropbox.com/help is a good place to start though :)

Warren J. wrote:When and why do my postings expire? Have you clicked on the notification to see what it relates to? Its almost certainly EITHER a Transfer (http://www.dropbox.com/transfers) or a Link (http://www.dropbox.com/links )

I agree :) I suggest creating an Idea for it on the Dropbox Idea's area to see if others also would like it.

Warren J. wrote:Does Dropbox sometimes remove files from your folder without your request or permission? No it doesnt. That will only have uploaded everything in that folder. You can check that by going to that folder on http://www.dropbox.com/home. However did you also set Camera Uploads active by any chance? It shouldn't kick in on internals, but, may on first time. Also if you are just looking at the Photos tab this shows ALL images in…

How have you uploaded them? What way did you do it? Can you give us more info

OverKill Engineering wrote:I guess that's business for ya tho. Its also law. They'd be in trouble, and putting all our data at risk, if they allowed the transfer of copyright materials. However, there are ways to do this, legitimate ones - using Transfer or Shared Folders within Dropbox.

christina76 wrote:How can I get rid of this error. You need to pay to upgrade or get more space. They have an increase quota, you do not. There paid quota does not benefit you in anyway. Or, if you need to download only ask for read only shared links or to upload ask for file requests.

lpvmc wrote:Is this normal? It all depends upon your internet connection. 10gb is a huge amount of data. The message should appear on that bottom box that its finished uploading. Have you checked the folder/file on another device or tab to see if it has uploaded by going to http://www.dropbox.com/home ?
