This is because of the fact Windows does not allow those characters. So, if you added them to a folder (or file) on Dropbox they'd not sync to any Windows device. See the section here on 'Incompatible Characters' https://www.dropbox.com/help/syncing-uploads/files-not-syncing

Dropbox never release roadmaps of features I'm afraid fbl. We wont know if/when its coming until it happens.
-
Nothing, sometimes it just takes time to upload. Make sure though that it is not going to sleep etc. and is continually uploading.
-
I assume this is when trying to open via Dropbox app? What happens if you try and open it via say an email?
-
Im sorry you are incorrect. On those images you are running from the website. You have Safari open on the left side and on the right you are in the Finder Photo Library. Dropbox is not mentioned anywhere (other than in green at the top of the Safari window saying its a secure site). It isnt showing as running (top right…

Thanks for the grabs. You have the web page open there Kelfscher, its not designed to have drag and drop capability to the desktop etc. from there. Same as it isnt intended that you can drag from an open program to the web page. You COULD drag the actual file to the web page to upload, however. To use Drag and Drop you…

I was just going to add Zapier to the list @"mkp101". In terms of the API question yes they do offer this as an API (because others are already using it - Zapier and SendToDropbox as examples), but, can I suggest asking any questions about it (how etc.) directly via the API Forum area? The team there are spot on!

But where Kelsfischer. We need more info as this thread relates to about 3 different things - the type of computer you are using is irrelevant actually to the initial posting (because its on about 1 specific page on the Dropbox site which doesnt have drag/drop capability). What is the web page you are trying to do this on…

How did you actually upgrade? You'll only be able to downgrade via the Dropbox site if you upgraded via the Dropbox site. If it was via iTunes or a re-seller you need to contact them direct.
-
Also, just to add that sometimes this method may not work - try it and if it does, win, if not you need to go and use a hosting tool I'm afraid.
-
The issue shouldnt happen on a Mac as the character limit only applies to Windows
-
No there isnt, sorry. However, they can put *ANYTHING* in those boxes so if you require specific info make sure you tell them that when they log on

Hi You can disable Camera Uploads by following https://www.dropbox.com/help/photos-videos/camera-uploads-overview

There isnt a way I'm afraid I'm not even sure turning off notifications completely works if I'm honest. Its been quite a common request for awhile now : https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Share-an-idea/ct-p/101002000

As for mass downloading you need to ask Google I'm afraid, but yes, ultimately you need to download from Google to them reupload to Dropbox.
-
@"Persondatakonsu" These are only available to Business customers.
-
No, they dont. It is simply an internet link that when clicked on takes them to a page on Dropbox.com. They may be asked to sign up or log in, but, they can just click on the X in the top right or tap escape to get past that.

It is compliant - from all of the legal advice I've been given for my own personal businesses they are compliant. The biggest risk we have is from my devices so thats where we had to tighten things up. As Dropbox is part of the US Privacy Shield is is more than robust to use:…

They've listened pbarney... they are starting to appear over on the Beta builds pages but maybe a few days delayed: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Desktop-client-builds/Beta-Build-50-3-68/m-p/276583#M4610

I'm afraid not - certainly not automatically anyway. Dropbox isnt a backup tool and so it lacks the functionality that would come with a backup program.

Hi Anita Have a look at https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Sharing-and-collaboration/GDPR-Compliance-for-Personal-Free-Accounts/m-p/275027#M19691 Dropbox IS GDPR compliant, but, like most of this stuff its based upon your own Risk Assessments. I am using Dropbox to store information on my business (swim school enrolments,…

No, there is no limit. It just slows things down initially as there are overheads on checking each file. I can quite easily upload movies of a few GB here in a couple of minutes, but, thats because everything else is already sync'd and so the overheads are low. Have a look…

There is no cap at Dropbox's end, but, that does not mean there are not caps elsewhere. What is worth noting, however, is that uploads are always very slow with Dropbox initially because it uploads files smallest -> largest after its recreated the directory structure. Because it individually has checks every file it means…

Hey Mitch, Thats not something I've ever seen on here before, but, it would make some sense. Thank you for posting :)
-
I'm afraid you are stuck then - and I doubt you'll get this with any organisation without paying massive amounts (because to do so is very labour intense). If they are stating this make sure you are also investigating things like your email providers etc.
-
It is not incorrect at all. I'm in the UK and it is acceptable to use things like Safe Harbour to do so as the requirements are based upon the specifics of individuals things may be different (I deal with parents of children in a swim school, not holding massive amounts of personal data etc.). So, I have informed all my…

Have you read the links supplied Aukevn? It depends who you need Dropbox to be doing in order for you to decide if it is compliant or not. Dropbox on its own IS compliant because of how the data is stored etc. But, if you deem you need additional controls (maybe access logs etc.) then you will need a higher package than a…

This was asked just below your post... have a look over at https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Photos-and-videos/How-can-I-find-the-total-number-of-files-in-a-folder/m-p/276877#M11257 :)

Simply -Unlink the current Dropbox -Delete the Dropbox folder -Re-run Dropbox (maybe reinstall so you get a new version at www.dropbox.com/downloading) -Either log in with your new account or use the option to set up a new one. Instructions to link/unlink: https://www.dropbox.com/help/mobile/unlink-relink-computer-mobile

If its larger than about 2gb the zip files can get corrupt. Download them one at a time, or, install Dropbox (www.dropbox.com/downloading) and let them download locally that way. You do, however, need to make sure that the computer has the appropriate codecs to play everything installed.
