If you don't put your name in the filename yourself, your name as entered during the upload will be appended to whatever file name you gave it. If you put your name in the filename yourself, then this shifting of the words will occur as Dropbox tries to move your name to the end.

Agreed, which is why I don't use the Backup feature (I'm a user, not a Dropbox employee). While Backup has gotten better (it used to just be a sync by moving key folders into the Dropbox folder) it has a LONG way to go before it's a true backup service.
