If you don't put your name in the filename yourself, your name as entered during the upload will be appended to whatever file name you gave it. If you put your name in the filename yourself, then this shifting of the words will occur as Dropbox tries to move your name to the end.

And what does your Events page show? Is there any history or is it empty? If it's empty, you're signed in to a new account. If that's the case, you're either signed in to the wrong account (check your email accounts for messages from Dropbox to confirm the correct account) or the old account was deleted due to inactivity.…

Agreed, which is why I don't use the Backup feature (I'm a user, not a Dropbox employee). While Backup has gotten better (it used to just be a sync by moving key folders into the Dropbox folder) it has a LONG way to go before it's a true backup service.
