You mentioned in your original post that you’re having trouble with the desktop app, as well. Can you open your local Dropbox folder, select the file(s) you wish to download, right click on them and choose the option to copy/move them? After that you can paste them on the location of your choice on your computer. If you…

Hey Philip, hope it’s OK to jump in. Have you completed any purchases with your PayPal account recently? If yes, did you have any issues? Only if it’s possible, I’d like you to attempt and upgrade with a different payment method instead. Does that work? Let me know, and we’ll go from there.

Hi from me too, Steve. I’ve removed your link from the forum due to security reasons. Regarding your post though, there’s one more thing I’d like to clarify; you mention that this isn’t happening when opening the file directly from your Mac device. This file is saved within your local Dropbox folder and not outside of it,…

Just to clarify, are you trying to reply to the ticket directly via your email address, and you receive this error? Can you send me a screenshot of what you see perhaps? I'd like to have a visual and guide you from there.
-
I’m glad you could sort this out, @"Family Organizer"! Don’t hesitate to ping me, if you need something else.
-
@"ilanalter", is this folder located within another shared folder perhaps? If yes, are you able to unshare the parent folder? Are you seeing the same thing on different browsers?
-
Thanks for the updates, Joel! Can you perhaps move these folders out of Dropbox for the time being? It sounds like the Dropbox app’s syncing is stuck due to the large amount of files. Regarding your backup files, can you try to use selective sync for one folder at a time? Do you see any progress, if you do this, or not…

Hi @"write2nirav", and welcome to our forum. I had a look in our system and I can see our team is already handling your request. I’ve left them an internal note as well, so that they may reply back to your last message as soon as possible. For anything else, feel free to give me a nudge.
-
Hmm, I see. Have you accidentally set any kind of automation perhaps for your folders? If yes, you can remove it this way. If that’s not the case though, feel free to send me a screenshot of what you see here, and I’ll check this further.
-
@"Thissal", hope it’s OK to jump in here. Can you give a specific example of a file you renamed on your mobile app? You can also attach a couple of screenshots of what you see before and after to have a visual.
-
@"Bewildered_Bobby", if you weren’t asked for an admin password while reinstalling the Dropbox app, you don’t need to worry; this means you’re already an admin on your computer and the Dropbox app was automatically installed with admin rights, so this is expected behavior. To make sure everything’s running properly though,…

@"VirageSonore", how did you try to reply to our team’s email? Directly from your email address or https://www.dropbox.com/support?
-
Hi @"Family Organizer"! Welcome to the forum. Are you referring to the folders in your root Dropbox (or else, the ones you see right after clicking on the All files tab)? If yes, you can click on the "Name" column on top of your files to organize them again alphabetically. Let me know if there’s something else going on…
-
I’m sorry to hear about the whole situation, @"Joel Wilson". Can you clarify the app version of your Dropbox app? Also, did I get it right that your backup files show as 0kb both on the desktop app and your online account? When trying selective sync, do you see any difference in the number of files that the Dropbox app’s…
-
Hey @"DropBilly"! Thanks for your post. When sharing a Dropbox link with other people, they don’t need a Dropbox account to access it; that’s true. Have they forwarded you a screenshot of what they see though, when trying to open it? Feel free to post it here, so that I may have a visual (you can mask any personal info…
-
I wouldn’t suggest this for now. One more thing I’d like to ask though is whether you were asked to pick the location of your Dropbox folder once reinstalling the Dropbox app. If yes, did you choose your previous/existing location? I’d like to gather as much info as possible and check this with our team.
-
Really glad you were able to sort this out, @"1839744"! Thanks for the ticket number, @"VirageSonore"! From the Dropbox location you mention, it looks like you’re on File Provider indeed. I’ve located your ticket in our system and left an internal note on your behalf, as well. Please check our team’s latest reply, when you…
-
Hey again, @"Xariel"! Can you right click on each of these folders, go to their Properties and send me a screenshot of what you see? Before reinstalling Dropbox on your device, did you completely remove the app from your computer? If yes, did you also delete the local Dropbox folder after that?
-
Out of curiosity, do you have any third-party apps that are accessing the files within your local Dropbox folder? Do you remember when this issue started more or less and if there was a specific update back then, right before you noticed this behavior? Finally, I’d like you to right click on your Dropbox folder, click on…
-
Hi @"jasongitar", and thanks for your post. To clarify, do you wish to search specific images based on their filename, or for the people you share them with to be able to search them instead? If the latter, how are you sharing this folder with them? Via email or via shared link? Also, what’s the Dropbox platform you (or…
-
Hey @"nitinsirsat". Please check your email address, and reply to me when you can. I’ll be waiting for your response.
-
Hi @"Philip Kapadia", and sorry for the late response. After checking with our team as well, there should be indeed a progress bar when downloading/exporting your files from the mobile app. Are you still unable to see it? If yes, I’d like to know the Dropbox app version you’re using.
-
Thanks for posting on the Community, @"anastrophe"! Can you send me a full screenshot of what you see on your end, so that I can guide you from there? I’d also like to know the OS version of your computer, as well as the app version of the Dropbox app that’s installed on it. Keep me in the loop.
-
@"1839744", sorry for jumping in. Can you please double check what Hannah asked above about being on File Provider and let me know if that’s indeed the case? You can verify this via the Sync tab of your app preferences. What’s the Dropbox folder location you see? Keep me posted.
-
Thanks for that, @"Scanmaster". I found your ticket and left an internal note. I can see though that one of our support agents has already replied back to you. Please take some time to review their reply and respond back.
-
Hmm, I see. Can you also check your Chrome browser and make sure there aren’t any pending updates? If there are, make sure to install them before trying again. I’d also suggest restoring your browser to its default settings and disabling any browser plugins. The issue you're experiencing may be the result of a security…

Sorry to jump in here, @"dropitlikeitshot1". Can you also upload a screenshot of what you see when trying to access one of your offline files? I'd like to have a visual and investigate further. Also, can you provide the filepath of said file? You mention that these are backup files, but are they located within a folder…
-
Sorry to hear the same thing’s happening to you, @"Kimberly5111". Do you mind sending a screenshot of how this folder appears within your Dropbox folder, and what you see exactly when trying to delete it? Also, out of curiosity, are you able to delete the files that are stored within?
-
Hey @"Baris Karapelit", sorry to jump in. The error you’re seeing is most likely due to the size of file you’re trying to upload indeed. Have you tried to upload a much smaller file? For example, an image file or a document? Does this work properly or do you still get the same error?
-
Hi @"Nathan S.16", and thanks for posting about this on our forum! If the issue persists even after quitting the Dropbox app, then this may have to do with your Mac device indeed, rather than the Dropbox app. Let’s check a few things first, though. First off, what happens exactly when trying to rename the file? Is the…
