Hi @"amandachin" any idea why I dont have access yet? 😞
-
I'm afraid you cannot. There is no way to share online only. You can used shared links to add permissions to remove download ability but I suspect it wont work on the family folder (as it usually doesn't on 'special' folders). https://help.dropbox.com/share/set-link-permissions
-
What does the link say when you click on it? And if they've stopped syncing what does Dropbox say if you mouse over its icon on the status bar?
-
Have you checked you've not set up backups? www.dropbox.com/backups ?

That has worked. But it looks like its a shared folder with edit permissions. Is that intentional? Does the other person have an account that they can use? Note: Ive never seen the way that presented to me before so not sure if its something you changed, or, Dropbox has!! Also, one thing to think about is how you sent your…

Have you looked at your invoices at https://www.dropbox.com/account/billing ? That shows on mine $'s

When I click on that, it says I am out of storage. How can I add my photos to that shared file without impacting my own personal account?…

How long ago did you last log in @"TNSteve" ? If its over 12 months ago the account data has gone: https://help.dropbox.com/account-access/email-about-inactive-account Even if the account data has been wiped you would still get that screen asking for a PIN to log on if needed as Dropbox does recognise you had an account.…

That works if you are logged in to the computer that has Dropbox installed and running - as it then opens it directly in that app and program. Is Dropbox running on your computer now with no errors AND is the file available on your computer in the Dropbox folder.

Dropbox doesnt have capability to open and edit text files I'm afraid. It is previewable only. https://help.dropbox.com/view-edit/file-types-that-preview

@"joteedee" wrote:Do you mean if lots of people tried to access at once and then the link would not work? Basically, yes. As a free user you get 1TB of bandwidth a day (which is a HUGE amount!!). But that is in a rolling 24 hour period. So every time somebody downloads something it goes against that quota. If they do it…
-
What type of file are you trying to open? Does the file have an extension to it (i.e. a bit after the . such as .doc)
-
Hi @"joteedee" It is yes - https://help.dropbox.com/share/create-and-share-link HOWEVER remember that there are bandwidth limitations on accounts so links can be banned and you cannot stop people sharing links as there's no sort of authorisation on them (although you can password things).
-
How did you log out of the account @"Heather LB" ? Do you have Dropbox installed on the computer? That error usually means you've made the link incorrectly and just sent the URL of a file rather than actually creating a link. Have a look at https://help.dropbox.com/share/create-and-share-link

Open the Dropbox preferences from the App click on 'Account' and then sign out of the business one
-
Hi anonymous So, when you set up Dropbox backup it actually moves all of the folders and directories to the Dropbox folder. It then places hidden links in original locations that replicate what you do. So if you delete them all it does actually delete them (and as you said - permanently as they are too large). There isn't…
-
Just to add although it is possible remember that Dropbox isn't a hosting tool and have previously updated the links which have caused older ones to stop working and there are bandwidth limits on files in Dropbox.
-
If he's deleted his account and the links are still working then they were not uploaded via his account. They are on somebody else's account. Once an account is deleted the files themselves are also deleted so all links etc. would fail and you'd get an error clicking on it. The only way to have them taken down is by…

Have you tried restoring from your recycle bin? If you haven't got the files in there you wont be able to recover from Dropbox I'm afraid as you removed the account 😞

Have you set it to download locally? If you are on a Mac it isn't now possible to force all files to stay locally so you probably need to move that file out of Dropbox or speak to the textClipping developers to see how they are going to update it to work across Dropbox and multiple devices now.
-
Hi @"Kjetil" You cannot force one or the other. PLUS I'd say as Dropbox is not a hosting tool and links and formats do change (and thus old ones force stopped working) you really need to go and find a proper hosting platform and not use Dropbox - especially given the bandwidth limitations here which if you hit would stop…

You will need to speak to Dropbox support: https://help.dropbox.com/share/banned-links

Hi @"JimH55" It is not possible to have 2 Dropbox accounts under 1 email - Dropbox requires a unique email per account. However, if you use Google it may be that you have used @gmail.com or @googlemail.com instead for one and so as this is 2 diff emails it would be 2 diff accounts here at Dropbox (same as using punctuation…

Hi @"Ames13" You need to cancel iTunes upgrade and then wait for it to downgrade you (don't panic you wont loose data) before then upgrading again on the website.
