Does it work if you take it outside of the Dropbox folder @"ChrisG777" ? The key thing here is that Dropbox itself does not control the password on files. Thats done by the files themselves. So, if its opening on finger print but not typed then the issue is with the password OR a corrupt file. The finger print ID check to…

Its all online: www.dropbox.com/referral_status www.dropbox.com/account/plan

What is the error? Timing out is almost certainly a browser or internet issue at your side. If it was a Dropbox issue the number of posts here would be horrific
-
Which icon? It wouldnt usually open when you click on Dropbox (that opens a pop up menu), you need to then click on the browser icon for a web page to appear.
-
Have you tried a reinstall? www.dropbox.com/downloading
-
Have you given it time to sync? What happens if you go to the website on the new laptop? Do they appear there? If not you've almost certainly set up a new account rather than log in with the same account as on the old device. Simply log out and back in with the correct details 🙂
-
Have you tried deleting all links (www.dropbox.com/links) that relate to the folder and creating a new one?

@"neilBar" wrote:Hi Mark thanks for trying but my mac was never called ChristopersMBP4, there's no Christopher in my family In that case your account has possibly been compromised and set up as a new user (from the stolen drives?). The names on the screen are simply what the user account/devices are set up as.
-
Hi @"neilBar" As I said on the other thread there is no difference at all other than what the device itself is called. The names are just pulled direct from what Apple has named the machine. There is nothing more than this. There is no complicated naming convention other than pulling what the device, in System Admin, is…

@"gherbosa" As the message says I'm afraid you need to contact Apple or GooglePlay stores if you purchased through those systems. Dropbox does not have access to the payment/refund systems of those methods. They simply get a 'flag' to say you've paid and upgrade account. Nobody here, or at Dropbox, can help

Dropbox doesnt release roadmaps I'm afraid @"Tobias3" and, if I am honest, isnt something I've seen them ever mention. Have you looked at the feature requests area?

@"Chris L" wrote:Hello there 😃 So far my proposal hasn't been implemented, i.e. save settings within the account. I wonder anyway, why DB. considers "who can access" more important than "modified"? Kind regards, Chris If I'm honest I doubt it will be implemented, but, either way Dropbox doesn't release roadmaps - changes…

This is a public forum I'm afraid. For account issues you need to contact support at www.dropbox.com/support https://help.dropbox.com/plans/refund
-
I'm afraid it is not possible to recover an account deleted for inactivity - all data within it is wiped as the emails say 😞 Unfortunately that data is not recoverable via Dropbox.
-
Hi @"fcaco" You can use 1 account across 3 devices if you are a free user and unlimited if paid. Linking is the term of connecting the software to the device
-
@"neilBar" wrote:Hi Mark and I'd still like to know why it was labelled "localdomain" wheras my others are "local" Because thats what your Mac was called at the time you installed it.

You can rewind via the website. And it depends. If you deleted shared folders then you've also deleted for everybody in that share. If it wasn't it just impacts you
-
The simple answer is 'thats what your Mac was called at that time'. Updating the OS can change that. There is nothing sinister about it. If they have access to saved browser info then changing will help but you also need to update things like emails etc. Consider 2FA as well.
-
@"nomadism" because there is a sync issue - it may not sync to other devices and/or stop syncing on those devices. There is a reason they are detected and its to stop data loss and corruption not just on your machine but any others connected to it including shares.
-
The only way to solve that is let the syncing finish on the PC - if not you risk corrupting all database files within Dropbox (across the account). Let it do it and then if you need to rewind do that afterwards
-
What does www.dropbox.com/account/plan show?
-
Hi @"neilBar" If its asked to reconnect after you disconnected it, no, you are not in trouble its the same device connected again, Note that there is no way anybody could use your Time Machine discs to connect to Dropbox - they would need the actual username and password.
-
Hi both 🙂 Thats how Dropbox works. Dropbox is designed, and intended, that files are both online and in the cloud. This means that things work when internet is offline etc. If you want to have stuff in cloud only use Online Only settings.
-
Hi @"Paul 11" As others have said the Company has to do that for you. You cannot do it yourself. You need to speak to the Admin at the company and get them to remove (not delete!) you.
-
@"amandachin" wrote:@"Mark" We believe we found the issue! Please let us know if you're still having trouble - We will solve this! Hugely appreciate your time and interest. LOOK WHATS APPEARED!! Thank you! 🎉

Have you done https://www.dropbox.com/dash/install ? https://help.dropbox.com/installs/install-dropbox-dash gives some more info 🙂
-
Hi You dont just send an email, you have to share the folder via the website (which will then email them). There is no way to remove the limitation unless you buy and pay for a licence for them. The work around is to use links (as you have) and have them upload back to you via Requests.
-
Hi @"Engram" Plus will allow you to do this, but, not with Links. Dropbox links are designed as read-only / download links. You need to send somebody a Shared folder which will allow them to edit. The only key thing to note with this is that if the folder is, for example, 5gb in size the person you send it to also needs…
