  • Once a file is deleted and you can no longer see it at www.dropbox.com/home Dropbox saves a version of that file for 30 days. Those files no longer count against your quota. They obviously do, however, if you restore them.
  • If you deleted them from your computer have you given the account time to sync back to a green tick and thus update the online account?
  • Tried a reinstall: www.dropbox.com/downloading
  • Dropbox doesnt default install to the Desktop so you will need to move the Dropbox folder to that location via: https://help.dropbox.com/desktop-web/move-dropbox-folder Then you can set up which folders you want syncing to each device via https://help.dropbox.com/syncing-uploads/selective-sync-overview
  • Checked the time on the computer? If so have you looked at https://www.dropbox.com/help/desktop-web/cant-establish-secure-connection ?
  • Its STRONGLY recommended that you dont - there are lots of threads on here about where it doesnt play well. Its also worth remembering, and pointing out, that Dropbox isnt a back up tool. Its a syncing one and so you really shouldnt rely upon it as a back up one.
  • Great, that makes more sense. I'm going to move this to the API forum area where hopefully somebody with a clue about programming can help!

  • Yes, but you've not actually said WHAT you are trying to do. We cannot help or even point you in the right direction if we dont know what you are wanting to do / how you are trying to do it etc. Remember we are not sitting next to you. We cannot see your screen.

  • You need some software that will allow you to do this - Dropbox is more of just an app to get things on to the iPad not edit them (e.g. all of the editing is done by outside applications).
  • Ok, First off - when you moved everything in to that folder did you wait and give Dropbox time to upload it all? Thats a HUGE amount of data. Can you see everything at www.dropbox.com/home? Secondly Selective Sync removes everything from your local machine, but, it needs space and resources to do so - it almost certainly…
  • ??? You actually need to tell us whats up

  • Sadly if the issue is with third parties (as it seems to be based on those images) Dropbox support cant help - the only people who can are the third party developers themselves. Have you contacted the app developers you are having issues with to see if they are even aware of it? They should be as this change isnt a new one…
  • Its also worth pointing out that it is really, really, difficult and infact not recommended to back them up if you are using Outlook etc. via Dropbox as you can corrupt the files. I strongly suggest looking for and using a proper backup solution for this rather than trying to use Dropbox which is actually a syncing tool.
  • Leahlc - anybody is able to mark it as solved I'm afraid, so, even if one person found something that worked on here for them they can then flag that as a solution. Dropboxer's and Super Users dont mark anything as solved so its a third party person. For everybody still having issues can you please log a ticket:…
  • Make sure you are viewing the web page in 'List' mode and then click on the 'Modified' word (second column, after name) and choose which ordering you'd like.
  • Probably a bit odd, but, have you checked that her DNS settings are the same as the other users? Also checked things like any antivirus software or firewalls on her machine? It sounds like somewhere there is a filtering issue which is blocking certain parts of the website.
  • No, it wont change anything from offline to online only. Dropbox has a specific set of instructions in place that it wont itself automatically delete anything. The preferences menu only really works as I said to files added elsewhere (e.g. shares)
  • I *believe* it is only applied to files when they are added from elsewhere. If you create them on the device itself then it wont turn them Online only.
  • @"Jane" why can that information not be posted here to help other people though? It isnt an account specific issue. Surly taking things like this to email totally and utterly defeats the whole point of this being a Community Forum as there is no Community in private 1:1 emails.... :(
  • I did. It Worked fine. I just searched for ._ and they all show up, or, rather did as I have removed them. What I am going to say is that I am a Professional customer (www.dropbox.com/professional) which I know gives higher searching capabilities - mainly searching inside files, but, I dont know if that has anything to do…
  • I am hearing that there is a known issue, but, trying to get some more info on it - that does mean though they are aware of it and working on it. I've asked if we can get an official thread up with info on. As its the weekend (and Super Users dont work for Dropbox) that may take some time. However, what MAY work is to…
  • More than welcome Ed! Pleased it helped you out! :)
  • Yes there will be multiple tickets but Dropbox links them all together. Remember this is mainly a user supported forum so unless people report things in nobody can do anything about it. You could of course wait to see if a Dropbox agent comes along next week, but, all they will do is open a ticket on your behalf as they…
  • You are going to need to log a ticket at www.dropbox.com/support and then track it at http://dropbox.zendesk.com Note that replies will take at least a few days.
  • Have you tried an advanced reinstall? https://www.dropbox.com/help/desktop-web/advanced-reinstall
  • It is dead easy to delete them from Dropbox (I do it frequently although it only happens if you use a badly formatted drive on your Mac). Simply search for ._ on the Mac you are using Dropbox on OR at the Dropbox website and then delete them. Users themselves really need to delete them - no program at all should be doing…
  • I cant find the thread, but, it is my understanding from previous posts that as long as the content is legal in Dropbox's jurisdiction (i.e. the USA) it is fine. However! What I would say is that Dropbox isnt really a content distribution network, so, I'm not sure what you are trying to do (personal use v business etc.)…
  • The only thing I can suggest is looking to see if they are available on any other device still, or, if they were a part of a shared folder can you get somebody else to send you them back.
  • Tried updating it as it says?
