Ah I see, thanks for clarifying on this. Since this is a shared file, it wouldn't appear in your Finder locally or your Files tab online. Could you have a look at your Share tab and let me know if it's listed there?
-
Thanks for trying that out, @"ache75". I can see that you're also troubleshooting this with Walter on this thread. Have you given their suggestion a try?
-
No problem, @"GillW", all's well that ends well. If anything else comes up, you know where to find us. In the meantime, I hope you have a lovely week ahead of you!
-
Hey @"CoveUS" and @"jcp543", does this happen with specific photo types, like .jpeg? If you get any error messages, a screenshot would be super helpful.
-
Sorry to hear that, @"ache75". Could you also try temporarily closing any third party apps, like security software and antivirus, and try again? Do you also only get this issue when you're trying to sync files from the web by any chance?
-
Thanks for trying that out, @"wadeg". Could you also try moving the files out, renaming it, and moving back in? Maybe that will trigger a change in behavior.
-
Hey there @"huthbot", I'd be more than happy to help look into this with you! It sounds like you may be part of a free team. If you are only a member, you can leave it by following the steps mentioned at the bottom of this article. Could you give it a try and let me know how it goes?
-
No worries, @"GillW"! Looking forward to hearing back from you.
-
Hey @"wadeg", could you also try fixing the hardlinks and permissions by following these steps (for Mac)?
-
Hey @"kristenalexander", thanks for reaching out to us and for your positive words! I've moved you here, so whenever you have a moment, check out what's been mentioned here and let us know if you have any other questions. Cheers!

It definitely helps, the more info we have, the better! Since we're on the topic, could you ask your tutor if they are opening the file from the website or through the desktop app?
-
Thanks for your swift reply, @"bgr". I found and have made sure to reply to you. Whenever you have a moment, check for my latest message in your inbox and we'll go from there.
-
Once you do, let me know the ticket ID (eg. #1234567) so that I can pass your comments along, @"bgr". Cheers!
-
Take as much time as you need, @"GillW". I'll leave this thread open, so whenever you have more info for us, just give us a nudge. Cheers!
-
Hey peeps, thanks for all the reports. If you are still having trouble with this, could you submit a ticket to our team from this link, so that they can look into this with you? If you have any trouble creating a ticket, just give us another nudge and we'll be more than happy to send you one. Thanks again, everyone!
-
Hey @"GillW", if possible, could you send us a screenshot of the preview with the padlock that you mention? Did you send the files via a shared link, or as individual shared files?
-
Hey @"ache75", thanks for the initial troubleshooting. Could you also give these steps (for Mac) a try?
-

Hi @rothm, thanks for reaching out to us. I moved your post here, where other users have had a similar issue. Could you have a look at the troubleshooting mentioned here, and let us know if it helps?
-
Hey @"Babe Mooney", it sounds like you unlinked your account from the desktop app. For this reason, could you clarify what happens when you try to launch the app itself?
-
When you download files from the Dropbox website, they are saved to the default location the browser has set to add files to. Are you able to access another browser remotely?
-
If you're using camera uploads to do this automatically, have you made sure to have your cellular data usage enabled? If you're not using camera uploads or you've checked it already, have you contacted your service provider by any chance?
-
Hi there @"sherronnebattle", thanks for checking in with us. If you're downloading these files from the website, could it be that your browser is set to download files directly to the Dropbox folder? Do you get the same behavior if you do this from another browser? Have a look and let me know what you find, cheers!
-
Hi there @"Trumpy57", let's see what we can do here. Since you copied the images to your Photos library, they would be considered separate from the ones in your Dropbox folder. As for the ones you're looking for in your Dropbox account, could you have a look at your events page for any recent record on what could have…
-
Hey @"StevejMusicman", thanks for posting your question here. Just to make sure that we're on the same page, are you trying to download these files to your device so that you have a local copy of them?
-
Hey @"msfowler", thanks for reaching out. I moved your post here, where others have expressed a similar issue. If you have a linked device, you can try updating the password and email from there, as mentioned in this article. However, if you're still having trouble, you can check out Walter's post for some additional info.
-
Could you have a look at this article, which mentions a few ways to tackle high CPU usage, and let me know if any of the troubleshooting suggested helps?
-
Hey everyone, thanks for nudging us here. If you don't have access to your email address, you can update both your password and email on a device you’re already signed into. You'll find more about this, here. If you've already tried that, have a look at Walter's first post for some additional information.

Hey @"h_john4", thanks for checking in with us. Have you tried connecting to a different WiFi network or through cellular data? Give me a nudge whenever you have a moment to check this out. Cheers!
