Hi @"Efreken7", it sounds like you've deleted the Dropbox folder, without disabling the computer backup first, so this is why the desktop files are missing. Can you try recovering the missing files from this page to see if they sync back to your machine.
-
Hi @"amal ms", are you asking if the Dropbox desktop application is backing up your files to the Dropbox site? Does it show up as syncing, or up to date when you hover over the Dropbox icon? If I'm misunderstanding something, please let me know more details so I can assist!

Hi @"Rover3d", as this is a restriction to the Office app itself, this is unrelated to Dropbox itself. It you're interested in this feature, I'd recommend contacting Microsoft, as it is their product which no longer allows Dropbox to be added as a place. Hope this helps to clarify matters!

No worries, @"Kevin__USER", I'm glad to hear that you were able to find the files to permanently delete them. Let me know if you require any further assistance. Enjoy the remainder of your week!
-
Hi @"Kevin__USER", if you're getting this message, then it means that folder is a shared folder, and you're not the owner of that shared folder. Only the owner can permanently delete the data in shared folders, so you'll need to ask them to do so on your behalf. You can find out who the owner is by restoring the shared…

Hi @"nvcuadra", I'm sorry to hear about this situation. If you've joined a Dropbox Business team, for security and privacy purposes, only the team admin can remove you from the team an convert your account back to a personal one using these steps. Let me know how it goes.

No worries, glad to hear that this helped. Let me know if you need any further assistance. Enjoy the remainder of your week!

Hi @"kevin f.1", thanks for posting today! I'm sorry to hear about this. Could you check if the mobile app is enabled for video uploads in the settings? Could you attach a screenshot showing the camera upload settings on your device? Keep me posted!
-
Hi there, could you try reinstalling the Dropbox desktop application to see if this helps? Is your Windows device fully updated on all security patches and so on?
-
Hi @"Kvothe63", have you installed the Dropbox desktop application with admin permissions? If not, this could be why you're not seeing that option. Could you try following these steps to install it and let me know how it goes.

As this is with a specialist team I wouldn't be able to assist any further, unfortunately. I'd recommend replying to the ticket directly for an update.

Hi @"Inesita", currently, .xls files can't be opened via the Excel Online interface, only xlsx files. The previous thread was regarding opening Google Sheets docs, are you getting an error when opening the xls files in Google Sheets? If so, what error, and could you provide screenshots of what you're seeing? Thanks!
-
Hi @"Stanners1980", in order to look into this matter in more detail, could you contact the support team directly for them to investigate it further? Thanks!
-
Could you link the URL for the help center article this is referring to, or is it a post on the community? This way we can keep it in this thread to help other users who might be experiencing this behavior.

Hi @"bigc200", are you opening the Keynote file directly from the Dropbox folder, or are you opening it via Keynote itself and navigating to the file in the folder within the app?
-
I'd recommend checking with Apple as to why the iCloud extension was added, most likely it's because you enabled iCloud Drive on your device. As the issue occurred after the upgrade, this appears to be related to how the files were uploaded to iCloud, changed to .icloud files, and then uploaded to Dropbox. Since it appears…

It does look like some API calls are made there. I can move this thread to the API forum, however, bear in mind that we might not be able to assist with the VBA script as it isn't related to Dropbox itself.
-
Hi @"WDPandP", what you're describing is different to what other users are experiencing. When you attempt to edit an online-only file, the Dropbox desktop application needs to make the file local first, to then open it in the appropriate app to edit it. Otherwise, it wouldn't be possible to edit a file that wasn't on your…

Generally, Office files with passwords won't open via Dropbox, due to the security on the file itself. Can you try exporting the file directly to Word or Excel to see if this helps?
-
Hi @"domiono43", thanks for messaging today! Assuming you have the Dropbox desktop application installed on the machine, and you're deleting files from the Dropbox folder, then these deletions would delete from the site. This is because the Dropbox service is primarily to sync files, including deletions, from computer to…
-
Hi @"pennyspam", is it possible that the file was deleted or moved, which is why the app can't locate it, meaning there aren't any 3 dots on it. Try navigating to the file directly in the Files tab when you tap the icon on the top left.
-
Hi @"powerhouse", the Dropbox desktop application on Linux requires the installation of Glibc 2.19 or higher according to the requirements. The app itself needs to be installed on one of the supported file systems according to this article. @"nasdrop", you can see the supported Linux OSes in the above article as well. Hope…

I'm not sure if it's possible to create a VBA script to upload to Dropbox directly, however, you can look into the Dropbox API documentation for more information to see if there is any possibility of doing so using the info there.

The Dropbox app will sync whatever file is in the Dropbox folder. Since it looks like the files were replaced with iCloud files, Dropbox would sync those as well. Given there isn't any version history on the files, or any deleted files, it could mean that this change happened outside of 30 days ago, so it wouldn't be…

Did you have the computer backup feature enabled on another device, or this same one? If it was a different PC name, then it sounds like you've enabled computer backup on your Surface Pro as well when you installed the app. Try the steps in my earlier post to disable it completely.

Not a problem, @"captjoe777"! If you need any further assistance, please let me know. Enjoy the rest of your week!
-
Thanks for the update, I'm happy to hear that the issue has been resolved now, @"92cafe"! Enjoy the remainder of your week!

Hi @"Gotham", thanks for posting on the Community! If you remove yourself from the shared folder, then the files in that folder will remain. You won't have access to them any more, and the folder would be deleted from your account and machine, but it will remain accessible for everyone else. Hope this helps to clarify…

It sounds like the files are no longer on the Dropbox site, if you're not seeing any version history, or deleted files. This would mean that the files are no longer on your Dropbox account to be able to recover them. When did you upgrade to Catalina? Was it within the last 30 days? Regarding phone support, this is only…

Very happy to have helped out @"JMMSM"! Enjoy your week!
