With Dropbox Basic, I recieved an alert saying my dropbox is full -all 8.25 GB are used. But when I check my Dropbox file on my desktop it's size is 1.89 GB. I like to use drop box as my back up, but the idea of having my files synced does not work for me. is there a way to turn syncing off perminantly without having to unlink myself? I dont want to unlink becuase I wont be able to down load large amounts of files. However syncing files just does not work for me. thanks! 

OS: macOS Sierra 10.12 I am unable to use selective sync. I open Dropbox Preferences > Account and click on Change Settings for Selective Sync. Dropbox opens a window and it says "Loading more folders..." And it just stays there forever. It will not bring up my Dropbox folders to check or uncheck for syncing.

I now realise that I should have installed Dropbox data on an other (larger) partition of the HD.
