@"Konigi" your analysis is spot on. Unbelievable. Truly incredible.

@"Teddy73" I'm not quite clear on this File Provider matter. Could you please explain what it entails and how it might impact our installation? I'm asking because I'm not even sure what File Provider refers to. Is it something like the Finder? Thanks a lot.

For over 20 days now, since the MacOS Sonoma update, I've been unable to use Dropbox. This means no more backups, no more file synchronization, no more sharing documents with colleagues, and no more convenience for me. It won't be long before my hard drive fills up, and at that point, the only way I'll have to clear space…

Something strange is happening here. I'm still on Dropbox version 185.4.6054, and I'm using macOS Sonoma 14. I haven't updated to 14.1 yet. What I've noticed is that the files that were supposed to be synchronized and 'online only' have been partially synchronized. Some of them are visible on Dropbox.com, but not all. The…

Has anyone happened to try updating to MacOS Sonoma 14.1? The update was released yesterday.
-
@"Konigi" I understand what you're saying, and I partly agree. However, let me add that large companies perform necessary tests beforehand precisely to avoid these issues. Take Adobe, for example, as I use one of their paid software suites. I haven't encountered a single problem, not a glitch. It's like nothing happened.…
-
@"Konigi" your deduction is based on what, exactly? Frankly, I've never heard of issues with specific apps being solved by the company that produces the operating system. Usually, it's the other way around.
-
@"FrankieAnn" this was a solution that has already been mentioned before, but it wasn't clear whether by doing so, the files that have been added to the Dropbox folders in the meantime, without being synchronized online, would be deleted. Can you shed some light on this? Thank you.
-
@"CHRISTIAN ARCOS" this is a very serious matter. If I were you, I would have already filled the Internet with this issue. I've already done so regarding the MacOS Sonoma speech. What is happening is unacceptable. I repeat, there are people who are paying for a service that isn't working. We work with DropBox here, this is…
-
@"CHRISTIAN ARCOS" did you try to recover them by DropBox web site? If you have a Premium account you should be able to do it. Nothing can be deleted immediately.
-
We're almost 20 days into using MacOS Sonoma. My Dropbox has been updated to version 185.4.6054, but in reality, nothing has changed. File indexing is still stuck.
-
@"Konigi" thanks for trying 😢
-
@"ahhyeah" this is interesting. Someone else would like try test this workaround?
-
@"ahhyeah" could you explain better step by step this point, please?
-
@"gyno81" it's understandable to start seeking a solution on your own, and it's commendable that you've tried and shared your experience. However, that kind of approach is strongly discouraged for those dealing with a massive amount of data. For instance, I have about 2 TB of crucial work-related data on Dropbox. I…
-
@"Hannah" may I technically ask what it means that all of this is not under Dropbox's control? I would also like to inquire about what you mean by "we will let you know if there is news". What kind of news are you waiting for, and what can we, who are stuck, expect? I'd like to take this opportunity to ask if there's a…
-
@"CHRISTIAN ARCOS" I don't know. There are a pair of threads, not only one. In some way they were been linked, but I do not know tell you more.
-
@"manuauh" honestly, I can open all my files. Even those previously set as "online only." This means that the app is still working. But simply, the algorithm that searches for new files added to Dropbox folders and synchronizes them doesn't seem to be working.
-
@"Ulrich Cimolino" a lot of us are occurring the same issue. On this thread you can find more. We're waiting that DropBox fix the issue or that they release a tutorial to follow to fix the issue.
-
@"CHRISTIAN ARCOS" if you have a business account, you should be able to restore deleted files within a certain number of days. Have you tried?
-
@"LanceBurk" could you kindly tell me if you had any files that weren't synchronized before deciding to log out? As I was explaining, my concern is that by logging out, all the files added to the synchronized folders this week, which are currently only locally stored, might get deleted when Dropbox attempts to…
-
@"CHRISTIAN ARCOS" could you please explain what you mean by document loss? Do you have a paid account? Honestly, your message has left me concerned, especially since the issue has remained unresolved for days, and there have been no responses from Dropbox here on the forum, despite many reports.
-
@"elkcilb" at this point, I expect a statement or a tutorial that explains step by step what to do, how to do it, and how to avoid losing files during the process. In any case, it's not realistic to expect the average user to succeed in this process, which is why I anticipate a patch. I believe it's reasonable. I'm glad…

I'm starting to get a bit disappointed with Dropbox in terms of how the issue seems to be handled. Of course, this is my perspective as someone who hasn't received any definitive feedback, neither via chat nor here on the forum, let alone reassuring statements like "We are aware of this, and we are working on it." Luckily,…
-
The version of Dropbox has been updated, and we are now at 184.4.6543 on Mac. I've tried to restart the synchronization by manually pausing it, but it seems like the file indexing hasn't resumed here.
-
Good morning @"Hannah", attempting contact via chat was the first thing I did. I was suggested exactly what I tried to do: a forced restart of DropBox by ending tasks and Finder, followed by a Mac reboot, and finally, a logout and login from my account. I want to emphasize that in my case, I haven't attempted to resolve…
-
Sorry @"Hannah", but it makes me smile a bit that you're suggesting I take a look at Samantha's post when I was the first to mention it above. Of course, I've seen it. And that's precisely why I'm concerned. It seems like none of you even know what's happening here.
-
Hello @"Jay", I've actually already come across a similar issue on other threads within this forum. Samantha's latest post seems to confirm that the development team is aware of this problem and, I presume, is working to understand its causes. I must admit, I'm a bit surprised, given that Sonoma Betas have been around for…
-
Dear @"Sam DBX", I regret to inform you that I am encountering this very issue on my Mac after updating from Mac OS 13.6. I have tried to describe the problem on another thread.
-
Good morning, after updating to MacOS Sonoma, something went wrong with my DropBox installation (version 183.4.7058). Right after the reboot, DropBox started re-indexing all the files. But then - I'm not sure when - at some point, it stopped. It might have been caused by a standby that occurred after a certain amount of…
