re : 'Our OneDrive, and SharePoint (OneDrive for Business) sync perfectly, so we'll have to leave Dropbox.' Are you syncing the same file set? I attempted this and the Actions of each of the sync agents conflicted with the other. Dropbox uses alternative streams to store data with the file, OneDrive updates files you send…

re: OneDrive still limits max file size. It used to be 10GB (but now appears to be 250GB?). Also, didn't they drop their equivalent to Selective Sync? OneDrive 250GB max single file size (I wonder what you are doing if you have files larger) OneDrive does have Selective Sync >Settings>Account>Choose Folders OneDrive does…

the 300K LIMIT is old and they have replaced the indexer since from memory, we had over 500K of files when last used, no issues. We switched out to a more powerful service, OneDrive as it has better windows integration

if it lets you selct the external drive as a move to location just do it, and make sure no one pulls the cable out. if your windows and it doesnt, you can mount the external as a subfolder of C: using "Computer management" and Disk management in it. Or from a administrator level dos shell use a the dos command MKLINK /D…

@"ar12" wrote:Hi @"Lusil" - followed step-by-step but no luck! Pffffftt like that was going to do anything! Go into your drobox folder in file explorer and select the VIEW menu, if you have no menu press the ALT key to bring it up. @"Daphne" wrote:Hey @"ccramer", I hope you're well today! If you have a lot of data that's too large to download via the website, then I'd suggest using the desktop app to sync your files locally to your computer. Since you need to move the files to an external drive, you can choose to sync your files directly there when…

@"Jay" wrote:Yes, that would be an issue, since network file systems do not send messages when files change, meaning the Dropbox app won’t know that it needs to sync anything yet. There isn’t any workaround for this, as it’s to do with the whole structure of the way networks share and transfer files. You’d need to either…

@"hoegge" wrote:... Now it says 37 files +2 days - how is that possible? ... It's say +2 days because its not getting anywhere with the syncing of these files. If your down to 65 I would suggest this approach. (assuming windows but my understanding is mac has similar icons) Open file explorer, enter the dropbox folder,…

Hello all, I earlier supplied what I thought was a complete solution to this syning issue. It revolved around using the cloud online-only files system of comerical level accounts *1, unlinking, moving content to a save location, syning using cloud only files, stopping the app, moving content back in over the cloud files,…

FOR Anyone witrh the NEW relase that is now STUCK syncing/restarting/limbo OK what appears is the database DB uses to monitor your files was "updated" and the process requires a reindex. For reasons unknown thios doesnt seem to work anywhere near well enough. Here was my solution to get around it. 1) UNLINK the PC, restart…

@"Shawn B.14" wrote: I'm torn between two theories, one of which touches on yours: 1) it isnt this thats an edge case at best 2) the issue is not the DB server back end sync 3) Dropbox choose to replace the meta detail data base on the files C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Dropbox\instance1 used to contain some big files…

FYI: ISSUES SYMLINKS 1) If the symlink in inside dropbox pointing to another location then when a file is accessed this is resolved to the true location, and if tyhe file is then updated the operating system notifies interested applications that a file has been updated at trhe location it reolved to (the true location), if…

@"Brian1" wrote:What about today's stable 89.4.278? The "Endless" "Syncing..." is not endless just a HUGE delay. All the files in the Dropbox are being reindexed, the result is a HUGE delay, once that delay has started NO VERSION change will help you. The version removes the old database files and reindexes from scratch so…

@"PlsFixSyncing" wrote:Does this fix the perpetual "Syncing..." problem with version 88.4.172? Since the sync delay is due to what appears to be a TOTAL REINDEX for a new SQL engine you can expect its going to be in this version as well, even if they reversed the SQL engine back to the old method, then that one woiuld have…

@"MrAnderson" wrote:Found a problem with this new release, it seems to remove file permissions when the file is sync'd from another computer. For example lets say in Windows I've added a user to a folder. Then on that same machine I create a file withi nthat folder. It gains the permissions of the folder correctly. But if…

I would like to start with Im no great fan of dropbox they were great around 2010 but hitting 2020 its just OMG the same issues still present, like WTH! That being said, I manage a 3TB pro account (we used to have DB Teams but I only ever needed one account just the >1TB space it gave us) This is currently at 2.2TB in…

... yesterday (12-11-2018 at 05:16 PM) Its 12/12/2018 8:35pm Zulu time and my machines just updated to 63.4.102 Two more versions before the day is out? and no update notices?

version 60.4.107 rolled out, and what do you know Every single machine hooked up to this account started asking about if I want to move files out of dropbox, and if I want to delete files from dropbox. AGAIN, so tht check box means nothing, you think the only way people move or delete files is with explorer eh? Sort this…

@@"DavidJohnson" re "Now I would like to uninstall dropbox on my wife's user account (duplicate files taking too much space) and delete the duplicate files which are stored under her user account on the same device without the files under my account being deleted. The user doesnt need to be logged in, just the dropbox app needs to be running on that user account. Move the dropbox folders to an accessable area by both users. Set Dropbox to NOT start on Login. Create 2 On System Start task to run the dropbox app using the 2 specific user accounts. Reboot & Login as either user and…

Never used the beta's. Was definitely a second round of them .58 then .60, if its gone now all good, just wanted to get on top of it, before it stopped the syncing on each version update. Will report if it occurs on next version release.

OMG you added a service to install a driver, that only a small set of your customers require, great I just remembered why we canceled our business account! As to "pretty interesting, creative suggestions on how to disable", I think you lost the plot, disabling a service with the service control manager configeration tool…

I agree it would be very nice, however totally unpractical to implement. The reason is the dropbox app only watches the dropbox folder for changes, and then replicates those to the cloud. So has no interaction with the move or delete event in explorer or otherwise until it has completed, and only then is it informed of the…

Ray, Check the version history of the file for what machine keeps restoring the file after yuou erase it, fix that machine so it erases the file when you do.

@Gerald Y. Im no fan of some of the things DB do. However on this "Using of space in my account for files in shared folders" issue, I would like to point out the following. FACTS: 1. DB do not store separate copies of files no matter if you share that file or not, if it is the same file in two accounts of people totally unconnected,…
