  • In short, you can't. Your email address is required to access an account. If you no longer have access to the email in question and you don't know your password (or the password has expired) you can no longer gain access the account. Even if it was a paid account, all Dropbox would help you with is removing the payment…
  • No idea. It's not an error I'm familiar with (not a Mac user). All I can say for certain is that it's not related to Dropbox. There's quite a few sites in the Google search results where this error is discussed in detail.
  • That would have been an error from your Mac then, and nothing to do with Dropbox. Dropbox on your computer is just a folder like any other. If you were copying or moving files into it through Finder, then it's Finder reporting that error. If you do a Google search for "Finder error -43" you'll see a lot of results…
  • @"Casualworker" wrote:I understand you can look through your files to see what is missing but that would be quite tedious, what would be the work-around? Looking through your files to see what is missing. How were you uploading these files to Dropbox? Were they syncing from your computer using the Dropbox client, or were…
  • Dot Underscore ( ._ ) files, otherwise known at AppleDouble files, are created by Apple's OS X or macOS operating system, typically when you store files on a non-native hard drive partition. They're used to hold extended attribute information that cannot be written to the partition along side the files. This is most common…
  • Ok, we seem to be confusing two separate features. AutoSave (as shown in your screenshot), and the feature that automatically saves files every 10 minutes for file recovery. The feature you're referring to does not work with local folders. It can only be enabled and used with OneDrive, OneDrive for Business or Sharepoint…
  • The floating Dropbox logo is the Dropbox Badge. It doesn't allow simultaneous editing, but does alert you when others are in the document and it allows you to load the latest changes if any, among other things. Simultaneous editing is possible and has been for a long time through the Dropbox website (the same way Google…
  • Then I'd suggest that there's something else preventing it. The Dropbox folder is just a folder like any other. Can you select a folder elsewhere on your computer?
  • @"D L.5" wrote:The problem is that Excel automatically turns off (and greys out) the auto-save function when saving to Dropbox. So there's no way to enable auto-save when saving to Dropbox. If you're referring to auto-saving directly to your Dropbox account then it's very likely that Microsoft prevents that as a way to…
  • @"Littlelegs" wrote:Looking at other forums some suggested uninstalling the Office Products and re installing, this time i installed 64bit version and everything works perfectly. So ita a Microsoft issue as you have to go looking for the 64bit option as standard is 32 bit. Just keep in mind that nearly all Office add-ons…
  • You can request it in the feature requests section of the forums.
  • You're looking at the Preferences for your forum account; not the Dropbox application. * https://www.dropbox.com/help/desktop-web/change-preferences
  • The ability to organize your folders already exists. It's possible to have folders and sub-folders and structure them how you want. In fact, if you have the Dropbox client installed on your computer, any folder structure you create in the Dropbox folder will be synced to your account online.
  • @"Minato" wrote: Dropbox doesn’t have a built in editor. Actually, it does. Simple text files can be edited within the Dropbox app by tapping the Edit icon in the bottom left corner when the file is open for viewing. Tapping the edit icon opens the file within the Dropbox app. You can then edit and save the changes. No…
  • It's not an application that someone will have. It's a utility on Mac computers, found in the Utilities folder under Applications. This is an old thread and likely no longer relevant. Please start a new thread and describe the problem that you're having. This thread is being closed. [This thread is now closed by moderators…

  • There's also a noticeable performance hit on the Dropbox client if you have more than 300,000 files, especially for older computers. https://www.dropbox.com/help/space/file-storage-limit
  • You can't, and this is by design. Anyone can rename a shared folder in their Dropbox without it affecting other members. This allows them to name it something meaningful to them. For instance, if I created a folder called Stewart and shared it with you, the name wouldn't mean anything to you. You could rename it to "Rich"…
  • Do you have either a Dropbox Professional or Business account? If so you can customize your invoice. Such customization is not available for Dropbox Plus users. See the following help article for more information. * https://www.dropbox.com/help/billing/customize-edit-invoices
  • In a shared folder, any changes you make will be made for everyone. If you move or rename files in a shared folder, they'll be moved and renamed for everyone. You can move the entire shared folder within your own Dropbox without affecting anyone else, but any changes made within the folder happen for all. I created a…
  • @"theguy69" wrote:Have you added "Documents > Hobbies & Tools > Photo" folder to Selective Sync in Dropbox? doing that will not change the location of files. You don't need to move the file That's not accurate, at all. Selective Sync isn't used to add folders outside of Dropbox to your Dropbox folder. Dropbox is not…
  • Just remember to make sure that a folder is fully synced BEFORE you uncheck it in Selective Sync. When you uncheck a folder and apply your changes, the folder is removed from your local hard drive immediately, and if it hasn't fully synced to your account, you'll lose files.

  • @"Natweb" I've moved your message into another thread that discusses this issue. Please read the posts above. The short version is that this is a change that Microsoft has made and only they can resolve it. You'll need to contact them.
  • Dropbox has the ability to edit and create .TXT files on an iPhone, no other app needed. When you open a text file in Dropbox, you'll have an Edit icon in the bottom right corner. Tap that to start editing. To create a new text file, tap the plus + sign at the bottom of the screen.

  • It's CTRL, not Shift, and it still works. Alternatively, you can check the box at the top of the file list (hover your cursor there for it to appear).
  • It's funny that Miscrosoft sent you to Dropbox for this as it's quite obviously a Miscrosoft issue, and has nothing to do with Dropbox. Just searching Google for Name cannot be the same as a built-in name and you'll find many topics that discuss the issue and explain why it's happening. The one below is a good start, but…
