Hi Squips, Thanks for submitting this idea. I can see the benefit of being able to open files directly from your archive as opposed to via a 3rd party app. I've moved this idea to open so the rest of the community can vote on it.

Hi @"MsDClark" & @"Techmom236", Thanks for providing all of that information. I've reported this internally to our engineers and they've let me know that there was a bug that they have now fixed. Feel free to try again and let me know how you get on (they said it could take a few hours to come into effect).

Hi @"SamuelTrepanier", I appreciate the passion behind all of this and I do see where you're coming from but we do need to follow the idea process here. Our engineers already have assigned workloads and only have so much bandwidth to dedicate to new projects. In order to be fair to everyone else who has submitted ideas for…

Hi SamuelTrepanier, Thanks for submitting your idea and sharing this feedback on Amy's post as well. I've opened this idea up for voting so the rest of the community can weigh in on this. Best of luck!

Hi @"SarahOrgana", I've looked into this and it seems like this functionality has not been added as of yet. I'll keep an eye out and update this thread if there is any news.
-
Hi all, This should be possible by following the steps laid out in this Help article. It goes through managing access permissions for different teams or individuals in different ways. Let me know if this is helpful.
-
Hi @"Craxihuber", Thank you for waiting, this issue has now been fixed but you will need to make a change on your paper docs before exporting as the existing data is already cached in Dropbox. We have also tried to match highlight colours as best as possible but we could not get an exact match as there seems to be a…

Hi @"Klement99", I appreciate you sharing your feedback and I can understand your frustration. In regards to your feedback on backing up to an external drive, I'd suggest you read this post that goes through this subject in detail and what is and is not possible. I know it may not be exactly the result you'd like but feel…

Hi all, My apologies, there was absolutely a miscommunication on my part. There is a fix in place but it will take a few days to take effect. I'll update here once we have confirmation of when it's fully rolled out.
-
Hi @"jledv", This StackOverflow post says that can happen when trying to run RPM commands while a graphical package manager (such as Discover) is running. I'd suggest trying again!
-
Hi @"A M.13", This was a known issue that our team was working on. They have since fixed the issue. Let me know if anything else pops up!
-
Hi @"jledv" & @"gunyk_", Would you both mind trying again now? We made some changes yesterday so hopefully this should be fixed.
-
Hi Andrew73, Thanks for sharing this idea. I can see how this would be a handy feature for iOS. Let's open this idea up for votes and get the ball rolling!
-
Hi Car1don2, Thanks for sharing this with the Dropbox Community. I think there's a reasonable case to be made here to implement in a file request button. Let's open this up for the community to add their support.
-
Hi Micahromo, Thanks for submitting this idea to the Community! Group wide notification suppression seems like a solid idea to me. I've opened your idea up for voting so it will hopefully gain traction!
-
Hi @"Здравко", Thanks for reporting this issue too! I've since passed this on to our team and they have confirmed this morning that they have now fixed the issue. Thanks again and please let me know if you need anything else!
-
Thank you so much @"avatar382"! I've reached out to the same team members and this prompt has been removed for you as well. As I mentioned on this thread, if you have an adblocker, try whitelisting Dropbox so that it does not interfere and you're not excessively seeing other prompts. Have a great day!
-
Hi @"someone4" & @"CChesnutt", Thanks for sharing your feedback! I appreciate the frustration you and your recipients are going through when you share files. The same idea was shared recently but unfortunately Dropbox will not be implementing this change. I know it's not the answer you were looking for but maybe you can…

Hi @"MikSam", Yes zipping files would reduce the overall file count but it would also reduce the utility of the files. I'd recommend the best practice which is to use selective sync to no longer sync the folder you would zip. This would leave the files fully accessible online but remove it from total number of synced files.
-
Thanks for the feedback @"avatar382"! The team is aware of the issue with adblockers and are currently working on this. Can you confirm if it's the same prompt that you're seeing?
-
Hi @"concernedcitizen", I just wanted to touch base and let you know that I've flagged this internally and had this prompt removed for you as you are not part of a team. You should not see it again and apologies for any inconvenience!
-
Hi again @"Здравко"! This is the feedback I absolutely love to see on the Community! I totally get it, addressing it before it becomes an issue and create less steps for the user. I've shared this thread and your detailed explanation with our team that handles Dropbox for Linux. Hopefully this can be updated soon!
-
Apologies @"Здравко"! I misspoke, the one-line call is built into apt, not Dropbox: sudo apt modernize-sources I did some research into this format, and while Debian using it by default is new, it will still work with every version of Debian and Ubuntu we support.
-
Hi @"jaycub", Thanks for sharing your feedback. I appreciate the frustration you go through with the current file sharing process. I can see you weighed in on this idea that was closed as of yesterday. As a bit of context, I was the one that investigated this idea and if it was feasible or not and spoke with the relevant…
-
Hi @"Verwijs", Thanks for submitting your idea. I've looked into this and it looks like we won't be implementing this as we have a built in command which will convert dropbox.list to dropbox.sources. We appreciate the feedback though and are always looking to hear your feedback!
-
Hi again @"concernedcitizen"! I just wanted to check back in with you and ask if you use an adblocker of some kind? The reason I ask is because if so, adblocker can prevent Dropbox from gathering info on whether someone has seen a prompt like the one you've shared. We have safeguards in place to prevent people from being…

Hi marcemarce95! Thanks for submitting another idea! I've moved this one to voting as well so let's hope it gains some traction.
-
Hi @"marcemarce95", Thanks for sharing your idea. Unfortunately this simply is not possible. Syncing requires a dedicated folder and will always sync both ways instead of just one way. Dropbox can't create a true one-way backup of your entire account directly to an external hard drive without first syncing files to your…
-
Hi marcemarce95, Welcome to the Dropbox Community and thank you for submitting your idea. A dedicated image viewer sounds like a great idea to me! I've enabled voting for this idea so we can let the rest of the community weigh in.

Hi @"Yoam73", Thanks for reaching out on the Community! I've looked into to this and it seems like this was an intended change. I would point out however that you can still access Version History by right clicking on a file, hovering over "More" and clicking "Version History". Same amount of clicks, just a little extra…
