Ohhhh @"VW2" the UI has changed! This is how I see it: What is your version of Dropbox?
-
Epson seemed to resolve this quite quickly (Brother, however, is a different matter), however Dropbox bot is right. It is not a Dropbox fault, it is an Epson one. Try updating the software on your devices, the issue is that its out of date and using old API keys.

Unfortunately not 😞

Online search, is, well poor. It has to be said unfortunately. There is no search available for comments either.

@"michelle32" wrote:Any luck yet? I am also wanting to back up all my files directly onto an external hard drive. My computer doesn't have space to download everything to copy and paste over Dropbox does not have this functionality. Sorry.

Hi @"KH18" That icon is not a Dropbox one. It is a OneDrive icon. That means the files are either stored in OneDrive, or, were stored in OneDrive but not downloaded locally before you moved them. So actually they are an empty placeholder. You need to go back to OneDrive - either with those files, if it works, and try to…

@"clientreleases" wrote: Thanks for using Dropbox! The desktop client is regularly updated with many improvements and fixes. Such as? How can we test and help develop the product when @"clientreleases" is too lazy to say what the improvements are?

What does www.dropbox.com/referral_status show. Bonus space is not removed unless there is a breach of the T&C's, the account is marked inactive and comes back OR its time limited (such as Quicken). Also check www.dropbox.com/events
-
How long ago did you last log in? If it was over 12 months ago the data has been wiped. It is unlikely you can get access to the account, however, have a look at this article. Your best bet is to ask your work if they will reactivate the email.

@"AliceDropbox" wrote:Hi @"DebraV"! Since it sounds like your colleague is using the Dropbox Desktop App , you can advise them they can right click the file and select "Copy link" which will be the Dropbox Shared Link Just to clarify though - that doesnt work like what links in Excel do which could be used to pull data…

@"Angelcarnico" wrote:Hallo Hannah, I have the same problem. But in my case All the locations where the files are locally stored have been already syncronised. So all files are encrypted. Can I do a dropbox wide restore of an older Version? Yes you can using Dropbox Rewind: https://help.dropbox.com/delete-restore/rewind…
-
Hi @"DebraV" You are correct - the links are because you used the local computer. They will be specific to the device they were made on. Unfortunately they wont work if you do the website either - the web versions have no 'link' to any other file. The web Excel has no capacity to do this

Really like it @"lukeyo" *round of applause*

anonymous wrote:Happened thrice, ban is still there. 24 hours is a long time I need to use Dropbox for work Bans get longer each time you hit the limit. If you use for work and need to get more bandwidth take out a paid plan and you shouldnt hit the limit.

Its really not recommended having Dropbox on external drives - the risk of data loss is HUGE. If the drive is disconnected or too slow to connect when Dropbox is running it will start to delete data. In terms of moving the folder you need to follow https://help.dropbox.com/installs/move-dropbox-folder

@"Benf" wrote:Sorry this wouldn't help. I know my password, but unable to log in because I can't receive two-step verification code due to deactivated email. Then you need to follow the help article and contact support while not logged in - even here. Use www.dropbox.com/support. Note, however, it may not be possible to…

So you can see the file at www.dropbox.com/events ? What does that say about the location of the file if you click through to it
-
Hi @"pasteve99" Unfortunately that simply isnt how Dropbox works. Dropbox has no link or connection to files anywhere else on your machine. It will only sync the files inside of the Dropbox directory. There is no way for it to find / update them from other locations, or, send changes from inside of Dropbox to an external…
-
You can log in without the email as long as its not asking for 2FA code. Simply use the username and password as normal. If it does you may find you cannot regain access. You will need to follow https://help.dropbox.com/account-access/lost-email-access
-
Are you keeping Dropbox open? If not you may find it easier to connect the phone to the computer and let Dropbox sync that way.
-
As long as you havent shared with editing rights tell them to tap the X at the top right of the screen, or, escape.
-
Does it work if you follow https://help.dropbox.com/view-edit/edit-microsoft-office-documents ?
-
Yes - the owner of the shared folder has complete ownership rights of it. Permanent deletion would remove the files so that they arent recoverable, but, also that means they dont appear on Events etc. note this is one process - they dont actively go and 'hide' it from the events log.
-
Hi @"EddieSteddie" So, if they were deleted over 6 months they probably also wont show - because that is the maximum you can recover via Dropbox (note only if you were paid member at time of deletion). It isnt possible to hide an event from people UNLESS they are permanently deleted at which its instant.
-
Your sharing activity has been restricted for whatever reason. You need to contact support to ask for help: www.dropbox.com/support
-
There is no Dropbox issue. Dropbox cannot delete files unless its actively told to do so - either via device or a person. So somebody or something connected to your account did it. If the system says Person A did it - they did it. Even if they dont realise it. A common error is dragging things out of a share and not…
-
Hi @"EddieSteddie" If they dont show in deleted have you looked at www.dropbox.com/events ? It is possible that the folder owner can permanently delete them, yes, and if they did that they wouldnt show in the Deleted lists.
-
@"kwelsh" wrote:It shows that the deletion happened 3 minutes before I recovered it by a user who hasn't touched this Dropbox account in over a year. The Events log is always accurate. Maybe they havent done it but a device they were logged in to at one point did - somebody now using a device they didnt realise was still…

Unfortunately as so few people have commented on it at all makes it clear that there isnt a desire for this, sadly. WhatsApp themselves could build some integration with another back system (such as iCloud on iOS) but they'd need to integrate that themselves.

Is the other person working on the file inside of Dropbox and is Dropbox running on their machine? What does Dropbox say if they mouse over its icon on the status bar?
