You can use Automations on files but there isn't an equivalent for folders. https://help.dropbox.com/organize/dropbox-automations

Was it in a Shared Folder at all? I think you said it wasn't but wanted to check... Because, if it isn't in a shared folder and it isnt on Events then it has never ever sync'd to Dropbox. That page lists all sync's and changes etc. that have occurred to an account with the only exception being shared folders IF you leave…

Have you had a look at www.dropbox.com/events to see what is going on? How did you check it had uploaded? What was the steps you took? Deleted files wont be in the trash on your Mac unless you deleted the file from the Mac (which would then sync as a deletion to Dropbox).

It looks like, for whatever reason, the files were marked as Online Only and as such you've only moved file containers. The ONLY WAY now to restore is see if they are still at www.dropbox.com/home and if so download from there, or use the app and mark them as 'available offline'. However, if they were deleted from your…

It should be available based upon this: https://help.dropbox.com/share/branded-sharing If not maybe a message to Support?

If it is a share have you tried to leave it at www.dropbox.com/share ?

Yes the folder will let them download :)

michaelelias wrote:How do I get my files back? It shouldn't be this hard. Without access to the email its very unlikely you can do so - for the obvious security issues and reasons. You need to contact support via www.dropbox.com/support WHILE NOT LOGGED IN, even here, so use an incognito window.…

We need more info here, what has happened, what did you do, what was set up etc.? Where are the 'recent' files and what exactly is the error. Please remember we cannot see over your shoulder.

First question here is do you have enough quota? Dropbox will stop syncing when you are at quota (which it does warn you about). So once you are at quota it will just save locally and not on cloud. Second question is was Dropbox running? Does www.dropbox.com/events show changes in the timescales you were expecting? If it…

It seems that they are updating the information and ways to get help DL-CA! That wasn't like that a few days ago....

How long ago did you last access Dropbox? What is www.dropbox.com/events showing?
-
You can go to www.dropbox.com/support and access it - or email if closed. BUT you can only access that while logged in to the account you are paying for.

When you reply (note needs to be via the website and not a mobile) click on the Photo icon and it will upload for you to the post.

If you go to the directory that Dropbox is located in (so usually \Users\your name) and then just drag the Dropbox directory over to the side back on the Finder window that will put it there for you :)

dpwct wrote:Then you are saying the retention for backup is forever (as long as my account is active) is that correct As long as your account is active is the key here - and by that it means regular logging in and using of Dropbox. The link already given tells you how to view and access all the versions Dropbox stores. If it isn't in the Previous Version history Dropbox doesn't have another copy.

If his shared folder is bigger than that you cannot sync anything/it would stop. If you need read only access ask for read only links instead.
