Dropbox states it will start slowing down with over 100,000 files (I think!) and anything over that starts affecting performance. As you have lots and lots on Dropbox you may wish to consider using Selective Sync to take off folders you dont use often (https://help.dropbox.com/syncing-uploads/selective-sync-overview). This…

About how many files do you have on your machine quitclaim? A fix COULD BE to unlink and relink Dropbox - to see if your database is corrupt on the machine.

@"techs2017" if somebody has your password then installing Dropbox is the least of your worries. Super Users are not employees but the answer is the official one - this isnt a security flaw. Its by design. When somebody adds Dropbox to their computer you receive an email telling you this has happened, unless you've…

Sounds like CleanMyMac has updated some sort of metadata within the files (e.g. last opened/edited etc.) which need updating (Dropbox only sees the changes not what changed). Also, as an aside, it wont upload everything again - it'll only upload the hashed changes.
-
It will still be called Public, however, all links within it will cease to work.
-
You need to download what will look like the folder from the area you saved them in (InDesign is actually a package of files saved which Macs turn in to a file - everybody else sees it as lots of files though). When you download this file you may need to rename the .zip to whatever extension InDesign has.
-
You may want to try on a computer rather than an iPad Julie then.

I suggest logging a ticket then via http://bit.ly/cm-support and ask for help. Replies will take time, especially if you are a free user but, you can track at http://dropbox.zendesk.com I also suggest including screen shots if you can - especially of the error messages.
-
You've not actually answered the rest of the question though. Are you using the most up to date versions of Dropbox? That error is usually if its out of date
-
And you get a reset password and that doesnt work when you use it on the iPad? Have you checked then you are using the most up to date version of Dropbox?
-
Have you done whats been suggested and tried a reset? www.dropbox.com/forgot

Dropbox is no different to a USB pen or email. It simply transfers the files between users. And it has the added bonus in it that hashchecks the files to make sure they are exact replicas of the original, unlike say a USB move.

Going to be honest and say I'm not 100% sure around the 'filename' command - google is best bet for that, however, Rich's response around Dropbox not changing anything is spot on. So somewhere along the line the formulae isnt working between the machines and isnt playing well with things. You may get more specific advice…

With great difficulty I'm afraid because its simply NOT what Dropbox was designed for (or intended for and in fact I'd say dont do it). You will need to set up manual scripts or processes that move the data you want backed up, at the interval you want it to happen, in to the Dropbox folder.

@"GoblinFilms" - again youve not given us much to go on, but, as I said 10gb is the limit for the web uploader so larger than that and you need to use a computer. If it still says that check you have enough hard drive space. @"henrythompson" - again, please rememeber the website has an upload limit of 10gb per upload…

Dropbox takes up no more storage (bar the install files of a 100mb or so?) than the files you have stored on it articangel333 - because they are simply in a folder like all others
-
The files on your computer will have a green tick once they've uploaded.
-
I doubt you'll get a formal answer I'm afraid - especially as (sadly) what I said is accurate. Like I said it still seems (in my head) a weird change to make.

Thats to restore one file tho rb14 - what about if your whole account is deleted or hit by a virus. That is what I'm on about. Can they be without that data for a week or more? THAT is what you need to ask them? And backup solutions cost hardly nothing. It doesnt need to be complicated. It just needs to work. I use…
-
If I'm honest I cannot see the reason for the deletions/edits thing either. This is only a recent change as it was 30 days same as deletion, so, no I strongly doubt it will change again soon. In terms of backups - have you tried to get a large restore back quickly via Dropbox or google (going to be honest and say i don't…
-
You've got two features mixed up - which works out good for you :) So, if a file sits there, happily, for two years and is not touched and then deleted it IS recoverable for 30 days (longer if with extended recovery). However, if you EDIT that file but it hasnt been touched for two years you CAN NOT get the previous…

Download is still there Terence. Simply press the button that says 'Download' or, if necessary the [...] and THEN download. If you see open then what is happening is Dropbox KNOWS that file is available on your computer and so it is saying 'we will open it locally for you' or 'via the website'

How large is the share KLA? It maybe that its simply too large to process (I believe the limit is 10,000 files). If so ask them to share a smaller folder with you and as soon as its shared and accepted add the additional files in to it.
-
Again, have you done whats been suggested and if so have you then logged a ticket?
-
Eeedgar, this is still not the API forum so wont be seen :) Dont worry, I'll move it for you *moves to API forum*

Neil - this thread is in the wrong place for the API developers to see it (not your fault I realise). I'm going to move it now to see if they pick it up :)
-
And have you done whats been suggested?
