Hi John, Note that this was Apple's reply to fix an issue with OSx (i.e. Gatekeeper). You can always try installing newer versions but if you are getting install errors as per this thread I'd suggest doing what Apple themselves recommend.

Do you see the changes online at www.dropbox.com/home ? Is your Dropbox running? If so what does it say if you mouse over its icon on the status bar? Have one of you accidentally left the share? www.dropbox.com/share

No, it isnt an intentional thing. Its usually blocked at browser level by things like ad-blockers or a restriction on cookies. If it isnt working disable add-ons like that or try another browser.

I dont think there is anything to solve I'm afraid..... she didnt use your link, therefore you (and her actually) are not entitled to the space increase. All you can do is log a ticket and ask support if they'll help, but, I'm not sure they will as she hasnt used the link. www.dropbox.com/support to log it…

If they are apart of the shared folder downloading is an explicit part of this - they just can. You do not need to allow it at all. In fact the opposite is true in that there is no way to not allow it.

I've spent a bit of time playing with the Files app since last post (and also on there 'help' section). Neither gives much away. I also cannot find anything for Files in the Settings menus. Unfortunately as the files are now 'outside' of the Dropbox system Dropbox cannot do anything about it. Maybe worth starting a similar…

It would have really helped if you had said that at the start.... If I'm honest I've no idea how the local Files Feature works - as I wont turn it on because it only works when you've no security on the Dropbox app. I'm not sure it does take up space locally, or, if it actually works the same as iOS and iCloud in that it…

Its still very active and has had lots and lots of improvements (certainly way more than Dropbox itself has had) - sadly requests on here do not guarantee they'll be implemented.

Because Maple is actually talking about saving files outside of the Dropbox app - and putting them in to the iOS ecosystem, not, Dropbox. Hence the availability of way to recover deleted files on the device. The only way to clear the cache is how explained, or, if that isnt working following Rich's advice. If it isnt…

It isnt wrong. Until you tapped on the file in the Files List it was not downloaded to your device. You tapping on the file caused it to download. Deleting it from that list deletes from Dropbox. If you have downloaded files and need to delete these downloaded you need to do as Rich said and clear the cache.

Dropbox itself doesnt have a way of doing this and I cannot think of any way to do it if I'm honest. The only thing I can think of is getting the Mac users to rename them, or, see if they can find a renaming script/app online [This thread is now closed due to inactivity. If you have a similar or new question, you can ask…

Dropbox uploads in size order - from smallest to largest. This is also across all directories within your Dropbox folder structure. So while it would be possible to make it upload in that order it would be quite difficult and time consuming to do so
-
No..... ? That was the answer to your question. There is no way to have the file within the Dropbox folder and not have it sync. What you are trying to achieve is very likely to result in data loss. Hence my initial post saying 'dont do it'.

There isnt erikmoore I'm afraid.

Its *strongly* recommended you do not sync database files (which include email ones)... Partially for this reason - I assume that you have Outlook open? If so Dropbox cannot sync it. Outlook puts a lock on the PST files so that only it can access them, however Dropbox also needs the same. You are also looking at a very…

Dropbox doesnt alter the files, however, your browser may well try and force an extension on a file - like .jpg to be 'helpful'. What happens if you just ignore the extension on the file as it downloads and replace it with .raw? [This thread is now closed by moderators due to inactivity. If you're experiencing a similar…

You are given emergency ways to access when you set up 2FA gypped - they are in the form of 16 digit passwords. Unfortunately though you told Dropbox to not allow anybody access to your account without either the 2FA code OR one of those 16 digit pin numbers. You cannot now expect the company to change that when they've no…

I cant see why it wouldnt be possible zhp3nn, but, I suggest looking at https://www.dropbox.com/developers and if you want to clarify anything post on the API forums as the guys there are great: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/API-support/bd-p/101000014

I have no answers I'm afraid, however, I'm merging it with another thread that I know the Dropbox team are aware of and working on.

Unfortunately the moves from external hard drive to Dropbox are the same if you are using web as this thread If you are moving to desktop folder the issue is that the move is handled by your OS so it is that which would need to restart it.

Ah, he has sent you a shared folder rather than a shared link. Shared folders allow for collaboration which if you only want to download you the other person needs to send you a link only. https://www.dropbox.com/help/files-folders/shared-links

You are clicking on 'Add to Dropbox' instead of 'Download'. You wont be able to add to your Dropbox if you dont have the quota, so, you'll need to choose the Download only options. You may need to click on the three dots [...] to see that option, and you will need to do each file individually.

@"Kalbir" I'm not sure what the point of the Home page is actually, but, I seriously doubt it will ever include Photo functionality like you are all talking about I'm afraid - as similar things to what you've mentioned have not long since been removed from Dropbox's website. Sadly as well @"ayeshaji" and @"calledhandid" -…

Speak to your email provider about changing from what I assume is a POP3 server to an IMAP or Exchange one. [This thread is now closed by moderators due to inactivity. If you're experiencing a similar behavior, feel free to start a new discussion in the Find Answers section here. ]

Im afraid I do know exactly what Thunderbird is. It, however, shouldnt reside in Dropbox as email clients (not just Thunderbird but Outlook et al) are not intended to be in them. You would still need Thunderbird to use servers for syncing as Thunderbird is only a way of viewing the emails.

@"Scott y.1" wrote:I can't move individual pics or folders from online dropbox to my i-photo either. Super frustrating. Thats because you cannot just drag things from web pages in to applications - same as any program. The files need to physically exist on the computer first so you need to download them and THEN put them…

The issue I'm afraid is that the two are simply not designed to play well together - as Dropbox cannot work if Thunderbird is accessing the files. Also, remember that correctly configured email setups mean you dont need to sync anything as its done at server level for you (IMAP server)
