  • Thanks for the confirmation, we’ve sent you a brief message to that address. Please let us know if you haven’t received it in your inbox. Thanks!
  • As the others have said above, your files on the Dropbox servers are encrypted. However the files on your local machine are not, like with any other folder on your computer, so a third party encryption software would be needed if you don’t want anyone to access or view your files there.
  • There are some differences in the logs between a Dropbox Business subscription on the Standard or Advanced/Enterprise plans. Firstly is the initial screen, you can see that Advanced allows you to immediately filter based on a file or folder: Standard log Advanced log --- Then there are the filter differences, note that…
  • I use Scrivener myself at home, and know that the files are folders themselves, since all my projects live in the Dropbox folder. The desktop app also uploads the ‘file’ as a folder and then the files within the folder, namely the individual text files, comments, images, settings and everything else in your project. It…
  • Well, I haven’t tested it here due to our restrictions, but there are some browser extensions that can download all the links and images on any webpage you’re viewing. I’m sure there’s a way for those plugins to filter by URL, and then export that list to a file to which you can run your own script to rename dl=0 to raw=1,…
  • Sorry you feel that way, and thanks for pointing out the typo. [edit] Sorry, @"Rich" pointed out about the notifications, not myself. However I do know that since some users don’t like to be informed on logins, as they might be on multiple devices, and that there is a setting to do so should they wish to. Regarding the…
  • As you can see from the above, there are a lot of various ways that your files are susceptible to deletion. I’m certain there must be some other exceptionally rare instances that I haven’t covered here, and if I do recall them, I’ll edit my posts accordingly. Hopefully this wasn’t too boring, but educational instead. We…
  • Special mention - If the Dropbox folder is on an external drive Not mounted - When you boot your machine up and the external drive has yet be mounted to your machine, even if the cable is connected, it might not appear instantly on your computer as a drive. At this point, the Dropbox desktop application would detect a lack…
  • Deletions by the API An app deleted the file - Now is when it gets tricky… If you grant a third-party app access to your Dropbox account, they might have access to the whole account, and not just a specific folder just for them. This can lead to a multitude of reasons that I’ll briefly go through now, but the possibilities…
  • Deletions by another user from any device Another user deleted the file - This time, it isn’t due to your actions, but someone else’s. This can only occur in shared or team folders. One common reason is that users don’t realize how the shared folders work, and thus delete the file thinking it only disappears from their…
  • Deletions with your own username and the web You deleted the file yourself - From the web… Browsers could be used from desktop or mobile devices, it will show up the same way. This is completely separate from the desktop or mobile Dropbox app. You removed a shared folder from your account temporarily - Removing a shared…
  • Deletions with your own username and another device name You deleted the file yourself - This will still be top of every post… This time from another computer you own. Clearing out your camera roll on the phone - Hmm, remember that Camera Roll on iOS is not the Camera Uploads folder on your Dropbox account. Made a mistake?…
  • Look, just tell me how my file was deleted… I was getting to that! Now, I’ve been thinking about this for a while in order to help all users understand the myriad of deletions, so I’ve come up with a list of nearly all conceivable ways files could be deleted from your Dropbox account, given the above details I provided…
  • But, how can my file be deleted? A few ways actually… Firstly, if you install your Dropbox folder to an external drive, then there are always deletion risks, and I have listed them in a separate thread, which can be found here. However, I’ll repeat them in this thread later for the sake of convenience. Secondly, when I…
  • Glad to hear it’s shared for you! Have a great evening. [This thread is now closed. If you have a similar or new question, you can ask here.]
  • If you still have any questions about the folder sharing, please let us know!
  • Interesting… Could you send us an email here in order for our support team to investigate this matter further? Any extra details you can provide there would be great!
  • There isn’t a way to download each image sequentially while logged into your account, or to generate links for each one in bulk. However, there is a small workaround using shared links and forcing files to render on the site. If you share a link to the entire folder, each image should be visible there. Now, since you can’t…
  • Perhaps our special turnip surprise would be helpful? Or a cup of coffee/cappucino? There might be third party apps that can access your Dropbox music files as you wish, but we wouldn’t be able to provide any recommendations on that matter. Let us know if you have any further queries on this matter!
  • Hmm, in this instance, we’ll need to do some further troubleshooting with our support team. For any users having the same issue, please could you write in to us with more details, such as what type of phone you’re using, and any additional information you feel would help! [This thread is now closed. If you have a similar…
  • We’re glad to hear about this. We’d recommend that if any users still experience battery issues to contact our team directly so we can investigate this matter on an individual basis.
  • We know it can be annoying, it’s just that Dropbox cares about the security of your account, so wants to let you of any possible unauthorized access! Let us know if you have any further questions.
  • No problem! Let us know if you have any further queries on this matter. :grinning:
  • Thanks for that. Are you on WiFi when making this change? Were you using the Office Online web-based version, or the installed Word app on your iPad? I’d recommend all users to forward details about this to our team here in order for us to investigate this matter further? Thanks!
  • Hi Duncan In response to your questions: 1) Paper and Dropbox are linked to each other, and yet not, at the same time. Let me go into more detail, the way they differ is that Paper docs don’t take up quota on your Dropbox account, they use a slightly different sharing mechanism (i.e. no groups), and the docs themselves…
  • Keep us posted on this matter! It does seem to be a general Windows error message, which could indicate potential corruption in the file system, among other things, but they would have more specific details on this error.
  • Good to hear that it's working for you! Have a great evening.  [This thread is now closed. If you have a similar or new question, you can ask here.]
  • As Tom said, whenever files are uploaded or downloaded, the computer needs to encrypt or decrypt the files, which depends on the processor. Naturally desktop devices fare better than laptops and netbooks. Other things that can affect syncing are ISP issues, router problems, or strict security or bandwidth settings in…
  • If the advanced reinstall doesn’t work, let us know if got any errors so we can help further!
  • Correct, since Dropbox wouldn’t know what file had the right data for you (nor I guess, any other program aside from the human brain).
