  • I'd just leave it unfortunately. You could contact Microsoft to let them know about this if you wish, though since you know that another app works fine, it's best to continue using that app. In general for all OSes, the built-in apps for mail, zip viewer, image previewer and so on, while effective for most purposes, might…
  • Instead of using the Explorer built-in viewer for zip files, could you use a third party app instead? There are multiple free ones out there on the web, personally I use 7zip at home, so you can use that if you wish. I want to check if 7zip can view the inner files properly, to ensure this isn't an Explorer issue instead…
  • I'm assuming the home PC has the audio test file visible? Keep us posted with any updates tomorrow!
  • This means that the Dropbox desktop application isn’t running, or the file isn’t in the official Dropbox folder somehow. Could you forward a screenshot showing the entire Dropbox folder, to see if any of the files and folder are syncing?
  • A quick glance tells me that the filenames of the zip file are different. Is this intentional, as in, was it renamed? Does the zip file have a green tick on it in the Dropbox folder on your machine, confirming it was synced fully?
  • HI Jeremy, we recent released the ability to view inside zip files on the web, so this is what you’re seeing. Just to confirm, after you click on the zip folder, could you clarify if you’re clicking on the folder, which is the database file, or another folder within the zip folder? Are the audio files located in the…
  • Good to hear it’s working out now!
  • Hey there, even though you remove users from a shared folder, it is still considered shared in our system. Could you check if any of the folders have the two person icon: and then unshare those folders completely? Let us know how it goes!
  • Dragging and dropping images directly into the Showcase should work. Could you try testing it out and letting us know?
  • Thanks for the image, I’ve played about with Showcase a lot so I believe I know the reason for this. While the Showcase is visible, the images (or shared links) themselves are not. Since you’re sharing the images, and you’re viewing it in the Showcase, you can see them. However they’re not showing in the preview due to the…
  • I agree with Elixir, however I do have a warning about step 5. If Windows restores some of the files, it might overwrite the files on the Dropbox site with the older versions, and cause more headaches. Regardless of how Windows restores it, I’d recommend deleting the existing Dropbox folder on the computer and then…
  • You can read up more details about how your data is protected on our servers here. Regarding the second query, local encryption on your ****** drive isn’t offered by Dropbox, you’d need a third party app to encrypt your files for you.
  • Thanks for your patience. Firstly, could you check the notifications as they appear in the Dropbox desktop application? If there isn’t any option there to undo this change, could you check the settings online in your account? Keep us posted with any updates!
  • Hi there, are you a member of a Dropbox Business team on the Advanced or Enterprise plans, or on Dropbox Professional? If you’re not on one of these plans, then you won’t be able to access or create a Showcase. If we’re misunderstanding something, please let us know more, including a screenshot with the error if need be!
  • Hey Philip, this was a feature on our beta versions of the Dropbox desktop application, though I wasn’t aware it made it to the stable version. I’ll test it out here to see what can be done to re-enable the prompt.
  • Hi Annie, the Dropbox mobile app is primarily a file viewer so you can see your files on your account without them taking up space. However, if you need to export any file to another app, such as videos to Instagram, then there isn’t a direct link between Dropbox and Instagram. The app needs to use your mobile as a…
  • Okay, well if you're not using a remote login to access your Mac, and Apple have stated there is nothing wrong with your device, then we're sure that our colleague @"Ross_S" will get to the bottom of it.
  • If clicking the button doesn't work, then it's an issue with that page. As that window is a Mac settings page, and isn't controlled by Dropbox, if you're not using remote login, then we'd recommend getting in contact with Apple on this matter.
  • Hi there, how exactly are you planning on using Dropbox in this manner? You can store files and render them in a browser using shared links, though this is subject to your bandwidth limit. If we’re misunderstanding something, please let us know!
  • Glad to hear it Jamie, have a great week ahead!
  • You can use the above steps to create a shared link to the image, and then change the dl=0 to raw=1 in order for the image to render in a browser. This way you’ll be able to use it as a forum image. Note that this will add to your daily bandwidth limit, so bear that in mind if this is going to appear on a popular forum.…
  • Hey there, Could you confirm you have this Windows Update installed on your machine?
  • Reading through this thread, everyone seems to be experiencing similar and yet slightly different issues, so I’ll go through the general troubleshooting steps to fix all of them. Feel free to stop whenever your app begins to sync normally, not all steps are needed. Install the stable version: The first thing we need is to…
  • Looks like you’re on the new structure of a Dropbox Business team, which we have some information about here. As that’s the case, most likely Readdle hasn’t updated their app to take into consideration this, as they can’t apparently access team folders in the Dropbox Business team. Seeing as the icon they’re using for…
  • There isn't an option to put a blank name since you'll get an error. A way around this is to instead type a space for the first and last name, though it might not look as pretty for a filename to be preceded by multiple spaces.
  • Actually, the Excel limit is separate to the Windows character limit. Windows has a maximum of 256 characters in the filepath. Excel however has 216, which is not device specific, so this should also apply to Mac versions of Excel. Usually though, using the bad files check is the best way to see all the files that could…
  • Hey there, If as you say it’s a sort-of-public computer, most likely it’s a work or family computer that others use. If the Dropbox desktop application isn’t uninstalling, or somehow is being reinstalled automatically, then it might be due to the settings of the computer itself. Sometimes admins can setup machines to…
  • We can’t really comment on how the iOS Files app works, other than it links to your Dropbox account. Whenever a file is created in your Dropbox account, even the Dropbox mobile app sometimes needs to be refreshed to see the file. I would assume that the iOS Files app needs to do the same thing, and there isn’t anything we…
  • Hey there, While the physical app always installs on the C:\, you can move the Dropbox folder with all your files to another location from within the app itself. Hope this helps!
  • Hey Steph! Is the Dropbox folder appearing in the Files app on your device? I’m assuming that you have installed our mobile app? What version of iOS are you running? Are you able to export files from your Dropbox app into the mail app? Is this the iOS Mail app, or the official Gmail app? Thanks in advance!
