Hi there, are you referring to the desktop app, mobile app or the Dropbox site?
-
Are you able to make any files online-only using Smart Sync? Could you forward a screenshot showing the plan page, while hiding the name of the team for me?
-
Hi there, if you’re getting this on your Dropbox Business team, then it’s possible that the account has been downgraded to a free team. You can check what kind of team you’re on by logging in and visiting the following page. What does the team admin see on their end?

Hi there, if there’s password protection on the zip file, the Dropbox site or app won’t be able to open the file in question. Hope this clarifies matters!
-
Lovely to see it back! Great high res screenshot too!

Good, if flash is working, then it’s possible that a proxy, antivirus application, firewall, or other application is using or blocking ports required for the "Open" button to work correctly. For information about the system requirements and specific ports, please review the following article.
-
Could you try the steps in the following Google article for Chrome?

Thanks for the details, Holly. What browser are you using to access the Dropbox site, Safari, Chrome, Firefox? If it’s Safari, and you’re not seeing all the options there, try enabling the Flash plugin by first downloading it from Adobe’s site, and then enabling it in the Safari preferences page as per here. You’ll need to…

Hi Carolyn, the gear icon should be on the Dropbox desktop application, and not the Dropbox site, so it is always there regardless of what plan you have. Have you installed the app on your machine? If not, please download it from here and let us know if it syncs successfully!

Hi @"hollymchargue", if you’re opening the file from a shared link, then you won’t get the ‘Open’ option, only a Download option. Could you confirm exactly how you’re getting access to that file? Is it a link to your personal Dropbox account online? Secondly, are you opening the Dropbox site on the same computer that the…

If you’d like to repost the images without filenames/filepaths, just the dates, it would be appreciated. File names are still private information you see! The dates that appear online are the dates the files were modified according to Dropbox, so they don’t necessarily match what’s on the computer. This means either the…
-
Hi Matt, could you try uploading the files using a different browser? Otherwise, use incognito/private browsing mode without any extensions running, clearing your cache and even resetting your browser entirely. Let me know how it goes!
-
Hi there, for clarification, which version is correct for the date modified? Also, I’ve removed the images for your own privacy.

@"Rich" wrote:Hi @"Ross_S", I don't use Selective Sync on this computer, and the Dropbox client is running. The option to open the file locally does not appear. This is occuring on multiple computers. Hey @"Rich", it's working fine here: Tested it on Chrome and Safari. If you're using a Mac, make sure that the Flash plugin…

Even if an idea is ‘solved’, we take all feedback into consideration. While I can’t guarantee that there will be changes, given that it’s up to the dev team, all comments and votes are logged and looked into. It’s not just this info from the forums, but also feedback we take from other sources.

Glad to hear that! Changing a username on a system is relatively painless, but other apps get affected, so it might be worth checking if any other apps on your end could have issues similar to the Dropbox app.
-
Hi @"Alej4ndro", as the thread is still open to voting, and regarding the same issue, I’ve merged your thread here.
-
Well, it was a humongous file, I’m surprised it only took 5 hours for 33 GB! Happy to hear that you got the file in the end!
-
Glad to hear it’s working again! If you experience any further issues, let me know, otherwise, have a great Monday!

Hi Ester, assuming that this is an issue where the username you use to login to your computer changed, as well as the home directory, then the following steps should help. Since Dropbox can’t update itself to a new folder location unless you tell it to, this is why it won’t start. Firstly, take note or take a screenshot of…

Hi there, if there’s too many subfolders to check, you can access the photos page, and videos will appear there as well. The search bar can also help by looking for mp4, mov, mpg, avi and other video file formats you might have on the account. Hope this helps!
-
Hi there, just so you know, if you’re downloading from or uploading it to the site, there is a maximum of 20 GB for a single file. Otherwise, you’ll get an error message. The desktop app is the best way to get large files uploading and downloaded easily.
-
Hi Tony, could you try quitting the Dropbox desktop application completely and try opening files while the desktop app is closed? If the issue persists while the app is closed, then it could either be an issue with the files in the folder, or with how Word/Excel are reading them. Keep me posted!
-
Hi there, is this folder in the quick access window, or Favorites? Are you able to right-click and remove it from there? If the Dropbox desktop application has been fully uninstalled, try rebooting the machine to see if this helps.
-
It’s worth asking them if there’s any restriction, or what speeds they on their end, since there are instances when Dropbox domains are specifically limited for these reasons. We have dealt with cases where Dropbox domains were either completely blocked intentionally, accidentally, or purposely had their speed reduced, and…

Hi there, which browser are you using? Have you tried using a different browser to see if this helps? Other things we recommend to test is to use incognito/private browsing mode without any extensions running, clearing your cache and even resetting your browser entirely. Lastly, there is a possibility that a proxy, VPN,…

Hi there, I moved your post to the API forum for our specialist to help!

Hi there, when you’re sharing a folder with users, they need to use a Dropbox account to access it and edit/view files. Do these users already have a Dropbox account, or do they need to create one? If you’ve invited their email, and they already have an account under that email, they’ll be able to instantly access it by…

The last word I can give in this thread is as what I’ve mentioned previously, and Mark and Elixir, nothing else can be used to access your account, except your phone number and emergency backup code. Video calls showing ID and driver’s license won’t help, since we never collected that information in the first place. If we…
