Hi Sherry, are you opening the files directly from Finder, or via the program used to view them? Do you have a stable internet connection using WiFi? Additionally, how large are the files you’re trying to open? If they’re quite large, then while the Dropbox app begins syncing the content immediately, it may take some time…

Hi there, the UFO generally means it’s a file without an extension at the end, so Dropbox doesn’t know what filetype it is, such as ‘test’ instead of test.jpg, test.docx, test.pdf, and so on. If it’s supposed to have a filetype, rename the file with the extension and it should show a proper icon instead.

Hi William, unfortunately there’s no way of merging the folders into one using Dropbox, since there isn’t a way of knowing which folder/file has the most up-to-date information in it, or instead older files that do have important data. This can only be checked manually by yourself since only you know which files need to be…

Hi there, if you keep iCloud backup on, and have its "Optimize iPhone Storage" setting enabled, this will save your full-resolution files in iCloud and store "optimized" versions on your phone. Since the full-resolution images are stored in iCloud, the camera uploads feature needs to connect to the iCloud servers to upload…

Have you tried deleting the Dropbox mobile app and then reinstalling it from the iTunes store?

Interesting… Since this isn’t a Dropbox error, I can only assume that something is affecting the installer itself. It might not be an OS issue, but could now be network related. As the installation worked on one machine, but not two others and both with the same message, my impression now is that the Dropbox desktop…

That’s the normal Dropbox Business experience, where all users are part of the same team, sharing quota among themselves and able to share files in folders and team folders. However, the shared session in a virtual machine refers to something completely different. Namely, a shared session, once you log out of the VM or…

Hi there, we cannot indicate whether this would work fully as expected as this is third party software and may have unexpected configurations. We do have some general recommendations that may help. For Dropbox to work correctly, it needs to be installed in an OS that is not part of a Shared Session. If installing into a…

If you’ve never had the Dropbox app installed, then the installation error should be OS-related, since it’s not even able to open the installer. There isn’t much I can suggest on my end. If you want to rule out an issue with Dropbox, you could try creating a new user profile on your computer, not a Dropbox account, but a…

Hi there, I can help answer these questions for you: * Users can create as many personal (aka private) folders as they wish. * The folders remain private to the user unless they actively choose to share them with someone, or if they accidentally create the folder in an existing shared folder. * If Dropbox Business…

Just checking, when you say ‘run the offline install version with administrator’, are you running the program normally? Contrary to what it seems, if you chose to run the installer using elevated permissions, namely, right-clicking it and choosing to run as administrator, then this isn’t going to work as expected. Let me…

Hi there, currently it isn’t possible to duplicate a Paper doc. You can however copy and paste the contents of a doc to another blank doc for backup reasons. Hope this helps!

If you're referring to API usage, then I'll move this thread to the API forum to see if our specialist can help out!
-
Hi there, this isn’t possible I’m afraid, due to obvious security concerns.
-
Hi there, since iOS 12 and Siri shortcuts are relatively new, most likely there isn’t any integration or compatibility with the Dropbox mobile app. I’ll forward this suggestion to our dev team for their consideration in future!
-
That’s up to you of course. If you do have other files that aren’t used by Adobe Bridge, then at least those can remain online-only and free up space on your device.
-
Glad to hear that you were able to open and edit the file! Have a great week ahead! :)

Hi there, I moved your thread into this one since it was related. You can't rename the computer name from the security settings, you'll need to follow the steps provided by colleague above to change the computer name.

Hi Peter, if you’re trying to share a link to a file in Dropbox, you need to create one using the following steps. The link you provided only works if you’re viewing the file while logged into your own account, so it wasn’t a shared link, it won’t work for anyone else.
-
Hi there, if a file is viewed in Adobe Bridge, then the file needs to be downloaded to the machine to view it. There wouldn’t be a way to prevent this, since it would stop the file from being viewed.
-
Hi there, most likely it isn’t possible to edit the file via the Dropbox mobile app, unless you open it in Numbers on the iOS device. Are you able to try exporting the file to Numbers on iOS to see if you can edit it from there?

Hi there, the steps there are for a different reason. The (Personal) part of the name will only disappear if you unpair your personal account from the team account. If it’s still connected to a team account, then that tag will remain there and can’t be removed otherwise. After you’ve disconnected the accounts, you can…

Hi Jenya, are you referring to having your photos appear on a map, using GPS tags from within the photos? If so, currently there isn’t a feature like that on Dropbox, though it is possible that a third party app or service can help with this.
-
No worries, Gayle, I can help clarify this for you! Firstly, with selective sync, make sure all folders are ticked. This means that literally every folder will sync to your machine. If they were unticked, there would be no sign of the folders on your machine, and they would be ‘unsynced’. The ‘start as online-only’ applies…

Hi there, if you need an invoice which can then be paid by a bank transfer, you’ll need to contact our team directly. Please could you contact them using the following link.

Hi Shane, could you try deleting the Dropbox app, rebooting the phone, and then reinstalling it from the app store to see if this helps? If you get the same issue, please could you forward a screencast showing what happens when opening the file?

Heya, just so you know I’ve moved your post to the API forum for our specialist to help out!

Hi there, there isn’t a way to choose which photos can appear in the Photos tab. It automatically shows any image on your account, including those in shared folders. I’ll pass your feedback onto our dev team for their consideration to change this in future.

Hi there, I merged your thread with this post so you can see more information about this error message from Chrome.
