  • If you’re having problems reducing the licenses on your account, let me know if it’s okay to reach out to your email address on your forum profile.
  • Hi there, Dropbox does not provide an MSI wrapper for deployment or installation. There isn’t much else I can add to that except forward this suggestion to our dev team for their consideration in future.
  • Hi @"Plc", would it be okay if we message you at the email associated with your forum profile to assist you further on this matter?
  • Okay, I’m glad to hear that it seems to be working for you now! Have a great weekend!
  • Hi there, could you forward more information about this matter? If the CPU usage of the Dropbox desktop application is high, try checking out this article to see if any of the options apply. Let me know how it goes.
  • Hi Mia, what version of iOS are you running on your iPhone? The iOS Files app is something that allows Dropbox to save files to the iOS device, at least temporarily, to use in other apps. More information about this can be found here. Let me know if this helps!
  • Okay, it sounds like you have a multitude of problems here, let’s try and answer them. With your screenshot earlier, it looks like you were copying files from one location to the Dropbox folder. The error you got was from Windows, saying it couldn’t copy the file. That error is unrelated to Dropbox, since as it states, the…
  • This appears to be a Windows error and isn’t related to the Dropbox desktop application. Could you try quitting the Dropbox app completely from the task bar and seeing if the error comes back?
  • Can you attach a screenshot showing the error message you’re getting on your machine?
  • Hi there, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? Try an advanced reinstall of the app to see if this helps instead. Keep me posted with any updates!
  • To keep you all posted, our engineers are aware of this issue and are working on a fix. Will let you know more when I know more.
  • Thanks for the reports, I’ve forwarded this info to our team to conduct an investigation on it as we speak. I’ll update you here when I receive an update on this matter.
  • Hi there, thanks for this info. Could you both try forcing the file to go local first from the context menu instead of opening it directly? A screenshot of the error message would help as well! Let me know how it goes!
  • Hi there, I removed the image since there were some private details on there. Would it be okay if we reach out to the email address associated with your forum profile to assist further on this matter?
  • @"jwvink", @"irishetcher", would it be okay if we reach out to your email addresses associated with your forum profile in order to investigate this matter further?
  • Hi everyone, I have an update for you! This is now considered to be expected behavior in the latest version of the Dropbox desktop application. It allows you to have settings for two different type of notification styles for Dropbox. You can allow Alerts, which are persistent notifications for critical updates from the…
  • Hi all, just a brief update here. We’ve received some reports from users that updating to the latest Mojave update, which can be found here, appears to have resolved this. If any of you get the chance to do so, please let me know if this helps or not!
  • No worries! Have a great weekend ahead. :)
  • Hi there, if you don’t want the icon in the menu bar you can simply quit the Dropbox desktop application, which will remove the icon. This will obviously prevent the app from syncing in the meantime, however the icon will disappear from the menu until the next time you run the app or restart your computer. As far as I…
  • Hi Allan, if you’re using Windows the Dropbox folder is in the NTFS drive, then there’s no issues. However from Debian, you won’t be able to sync your files since the Dropbox folder isn’t located in an EXT4 drive. You’ll need to have a separate Dropbox folder stored in the EXT4 drive specifically for the Debian install.…
  • Hi there, could you check to see which folder is still syncing? Is it a specific folder or filetypes? How large is the file?
  • That’s correct, though technically you’re not moving the files to the new laptop, but simply adding another device to sync your account to! Since it is a new link, the Dropbox desktop application will sync the files down to that machine, just like they did with your current machine, with the timestamps as listed on the…
  • Hi John, when you’re downloading the files from the website, indeed with any site, the ‘date modified’ or ‘date created’ will be for that moment, since the file didn’t exist before that period. If you’re using the Dropbox desktop application, then when the files sync down to your machine the dates and times will remain as…
  • I’m not sure if this is Dropbox-related, since you’re experiencing this issue on your computer. Can you try quitting the Dropbox desktop application and editing the file? Does this issue occur again?
  • When you say Dropbox file, do you mean the Dropbox folder? If so, and the file itself is showing black in some of the spreadsheet, then it’s possible it was made that way for some reason. Dropbox doesn’t modify your files in any way without any user interaction on them. Are you able to change the color of the cells in…
  • Hi there, are you previewing the file on the Dropbox site, opening it in Excel Online, or on your local copy of Excel on your machine? Let me know so I can assist!
  • That’s right, however you can workaround this in two ways, though it just use two links. Firstly, create a shared link for users to view the folder. Anyone can access this even without a Dropbox account. Secondly, create a file request link so they can upload files to your account. To make it even more intuitive, have that…
  • Hi @"Mamarazzi", @"Scott N.15", the Dropbox site or mobile app currently doesn’t support tags since it isn’t possible to sync these tags across to other OSes, as they wouldn’t be recognized on those platforms, thus negating their purpose. I can forward this to our dev team for future consideration to improve the site and…
  • For more info on what Rich said, this article should help.
  • @"Anselmou", I have edited your post to remove your advice. It is completely incorrect and can lead to termination of your Dropbox account due to violation of the Terms of Service. Put it this way, imagine if people you knew had your Facebook, Twitter, email, bank, Amazon passwords. How would you even know who did what if…
