While there isn't a feature to rename files using Dropbox itself, there are other apps and services which could automatically batch rename the files for you, including built-in features in Mac OS.
-
It would be possible if you numbered the images at the beginning of each filename, such as 00001, 00002, etc (since you have over 26k images) in the order you want them, and then sort the files in alphabetical order on the Dropbox site.
-
Hi everyone, there are no updates on this matter other than the Dropbox engineers are still working on a solution to this issue.
-
Hi @"BernadetteMadden", this would depend on how the Mac OS shows files in Finder, and wouldn't be related to Dropbox itself. Have you tried selecting the columns and choosing the Date created column and sorting via that method?
-
Hi @"Andreasp", if you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try uninstalling the app, rebooting the device, and re-installing it to see if this helps?
-
Glad to hear that this is working for you now, @"Sy_wuly", if you have any further queries, please let me know.
-
No worries, @"rabbit519", feel free to message again with any queries, and enjoy your week!

Thanks for the images. If you swipe the images up ot down, does it delete it from the pages?
-
Hi @"Sy_wuly", thanks for messaging the Community! Are you running the app in light or dark mode? There should still be the circle on the top right of the individual pages in order to delete them from the current scan. If you're not seeing this, screenshots showing what you're seeing would be helpful!

No worries, glad to hear you were able to change the preferences. Let me know if you have any further queries in future. Enjoy your weekend!
-
Hi @"aewen", just to clarify, do you see the Dropbox icon appear in the menu bar near the clock? What message do you get if you hover over it?
-
Thanks for the images, would it be possible to contact you at the email associated with your forum profile to look into this matter in more detail?

Just to check, have you uninstalled the Dropbox desktop application, or is it still installed on your computer? That location is the default location for the Dropbox folder itself, since it should be in the current user on your machine, unless you moved it elsewhere. The shortcuts are just that, shortcuts, so they won't…

Hi @"avdezine", as @"Mark" suggested, most likely there needs to be a change in their app on how it connects to the Dropbox API. There might have been a recent change on their end which is preventing it from working correctly. Keep me updated with any progress!

If the browser logs in automatically, I'd recommend signing out of the site each time you finish using it. Also, if someone has access to your machine, then they'd able to view files, and login to the site directly via the desktop app.
-
Since there isn't a way to do this from the site currently, I'll leave this thread open for other users to post their suggestions on this matter.

If you're getting the message that there are three devices already on the account, then the site is definitely detecting 3 devices. Could you attach a screenshot of what you're seeing on the devices page?
-
Hi @"filesentandreceive" thanks for messaging the Community! While it isn't possible to generate a list of filenames directly via the Dropbox site or app, it might be possible when using the Dropbox API. If you have the Dropbox desktop application installed and syncing, it might also be possible to create a list of…

It would show any existing sessions on your account. If the site was accessed recently, then it should appear on that page. Do you have your browser set to automatically login to your account, or do you sign out of the Dropbox site and need to login each time?

Hi @"Prima2339", thanks for posting on the Community! I understand your frustration over the syncing issue you're experiencing. From what I can see, currently, you're not able to install the app due to the device limit, so let's first address that aspect. Could you let me know how many devices you have currently connected…
-
Hi @"frank20", thanks for joining the Community! I understand the concern over the security of your Dropbox account. If a user logs into their Dropbox account on the website, then it would be logged on the security page, which you said you've already checked. If they view your account, or namely the the files on the…

The way the external drive backup works is by the unique identifier in the drive itself. If the drive was renamed, this might not be enough to be seen as a different device. Can I ask why you want to backup the external drive on another machine? Did you change the files in the drive itself?
-
Hi @"demiberryman", technically, that could work, assuming you're only ever going to access the files on a Mac. You don't need to create a new user, you could move the Dropbox folder itself to another generic location which isn't dependent on usernames. Assuming you're using shared folders, make sure that the folders…
-
Hi @"robestoll", you can create a Word document via the Dropbox site, and you can edit it from there as well. What version of Word are you running, and on what device are you experiencing this issue? Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!
-
Hi @"plshalp", this can happen with Quick Access links, and they might redirect to different locations. In general, if you're directly navigating to the folder in the Dropbox folder itself, it should contain all the context menus when you right click. Are you able to see the sync icons when you view files via the Quick…

According to the screenshot, the location is already in the default location, it isn't showing the Dropbox folder. Could you attach a screenshot of the Dropbox folder itself showing the Desktop folder?
-
Hi @"Jennifer G.29", currently the external drive backup works for APFS and HFS+ for Mac devices. Since APFS Encrypted isn't specifically mentioned there, could you try a normal APFS-formatted drive and see if that is detected by the Dropbox desktop application?
-
Hi @"user110", thanks for messaging the Community! The Paper desktop app isn't available on Linux currently. If you wish, you can suggest this change for others to vote on, so the dev team can look into this in future!

For any files still on your Dropbox account (from the message 'Some content is still in Dropbox'), if the default folders have been restored, as in, they're no longer pointing to the Dropbox folder when you open Desktop, Documents or Downloads, then move any other files out of the Dropbox folder. The deletions would be the…
