Yes, if the amount of files is greater than your quota on your account, then the files wouldn't sync completely. The account would then be overquota and would no longer sync until it goes below quota. If you have any missing files and they weren’t syncing to your account, then it wouldn’t be possible to recover them from…

Hi @"deltastar", did you check the deleted files page as my colleague suggested to see if the files could be recovered?
-
Hi @"Periannath", most likely this was related to the computer backup feature, since this is where you get these options. If you keep files on your Mac, then it'll move the files out of the Dropbox folder, which will delete them from the Dropbox site. Keeping them on Dropbox would leave them in the Dropbox folder and thus…

Thanks, I've sent you an email to your address, please could you reply when you get a chance!

This file is only 896 bytes, which is far too small for any normal file, let alone an Excel file. Given that it also says this is an alias file, this is a shortcut file created on a Mac device. This means there is no data on this specific file, and the real file should be located elsewhere, either on your Dropbox account,…

Could you attach a screenshot showing what you're seeing on your device?

Hi @"kfine9", thanks for messaging the Community! Are you trying to preview the Excel file directly in the Dropbox mobile app only? Are you able to open it in the Excel 365 app instead, via the Dropbox mobile app? This will help me to assist further!

Hi @"rsecoy", since shared folders take up quota on your account, you can simply delete the entire folder from your account. Afterwards, you can ask the owner to create a shared link to the folder, which will allow you to view it on the site, and a file request link, so you can upload files to their account directly.
-
Hi @"timq", after clicking the system tray icon, did you click the icon on the top right to then view the Preferences option, and then the Backup section?
-
In order to look into this matter in more detail, would it be possible to reach out to the email associated with your forum profile?
-
The only things that contribute to the daily bandwidth limit is downloading or viewing files from a shared link on the Dropbox site, and uploading files via a file request.
-
If you're using the automatic camera upload feature, then there's no need to tap the Photos button to have the image upload. It should be doing it already before then. Technically, edited images should have two images on Dropbox, the original, and the later edited image. Whenever an image appears in the camera roll, that…
-
Just to clarify, is the original photo uploaded automatically to Dropbox, and then a second copy is uploaded, or is the original image overwritten, or never uploaded in the first place?
-
Hi @"Alina9", tThere are no bandwidth limits to having shared folders. Bear in mind that shared folders are added to a user's Dropbox account, and do take up quota. So, if the folder is 500 GB, then the other members of the shared folder would need paid accounts to be able to store the folder on their account. The…

Hi @"Michael N.28", thanks for contacting us! Are you modifying the images in your camera roll at a later date, or adding filters to them? Are these normal photos, or Live Photos? Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!
-
Thanks, let me know how it goes with another external drive. This can include USB sticks if those are easier to locate.
-
You can also check the Dropbox desktop application, under the Backups tab, to see if the checkbox is disabled to hide all the external drive notifications.
-
Hi @"Raffa_hello", is the TerraMaster DAS physically attached to your computer using a USB cable? How does your computer itself detect the device, like an external drive or a series of drives? Do you have enough space on your Dropbox account to backup your external drive? Do you have a normal USB external drive to connect…
-
Hi @"PixiePassion", thanks for posting on the Community! I understand your frustration over the billing issue you're experiencing. Do you see a transaction on this page on your account? Did you upgrade directly via the site, or via the mobile app? According to your bank statement, were you charged by Dropbox, iTunes or…

It's possible that there's an issue with the browser trying to download the file. Could you try switching browsers to see if this helps? Otherwise, you can try using incognito/private browsing mode without any extensions running, clearing your cache and even resetting your browser entirely.
-
I'd recommend getting in contact with the support team directly for further assistance. Once you get a ticket ID from the automated response, please let me know the number here so I can locate it in our system!

The steps I provided were to reset the folder location, not reinstall the app completely, since those steps were to enable the computer backup. Since it seems you're reinstalling it now, choose the local option.
-
Try resetting the folder location using these steps instead.
-
Yes, it's still connected to your Dropbox account. Try resetting the OS folders to disable the computer backup feature again.
-
Hi everyone, if you're plugging in an external drive to your computer, if you choose not to back it up to Dropbox, then to prevent the app from prompting about the same drive in the future, the dropbox.device file is created there. This isn't locally stored in the Dropbox desktop application. If you delete the file, then…
-
Okay, just to clarify, when you reset the OS folders, did they go back to their original locations on your computer, or did nothing happen? Are there copies of your Documents/Downloads an Desktop folders in the default locations?
-
Hi @"Stephanie T.3", the two screenshots are identical and aren't showing enough detail. Could you try re-uploading them if these images aren't showing the correct info?
-
Is it just the folder 'PC', with no other files or folders inside?
-
Could you go into the Dropbox desktop application preferences, click the Account tab, press Alt+H, and then choose 'Reset OS folders'? This will move the folders and files back to their previous locations, which will also delete them from the Dropbox account online.

Hi @"wakefordgary", thanks for posting today! Could you clarify if your download and then play the videos on your local media player? Does the video play normally if you view it on the Dropbox site? This will help me to assist further!
