The red dot means it hasn't been read. Could you click on it, or the option on the top right to Mark all as read? This should remove the desktop notification.

Hi @"EventHorizon", there isn't any option to prevent files from being deleted, unless you're in a shared folder with read-only access. You would still have some time to restore files via the events page or the deleted files page.

Is this file in a shared folder or a private folder? Are you viewing this file from the list, or only while the file is open?

Downgrading to an older version of the app wouldn't help in this instance, since the app itself would automatically update to the latest version more or less immediately.

Is this a message in a yellow bar that appears in Word or Excel? If so, this might be the normal security warning that Microsoft shows when you open a downloaded file from the web, for your own security.

When you tap the ellipsis next to a file in the Dropbox mobile app, could you list all the options available to that file in the main context menu that appears?

Hi @"AnitaNixon", on the free plan, files can be recovered 30 days after their deletion from the site. If an account is deleted instead, then the files are deleted permanently. When you say the files remained on the cloud, are they still visible when you login to the site?
