Is it possible you were using Dropbox DocSend, which has a similar feature?
-
Hi @"jaredg1", thanks for bringing this to our attention. Currently, there isn't an option to do what you're asking on Dropbox Dash. If you wish, you can suggest this by sending feedback in the app itself.

Hi @"Valeria P.6", thanks for bringing this to our attention. Could you clarify how you were uploading your document to the site? What document type were you creating? Were you originally using Dropbox Capture to begin with? This will help me to assist further!
-
This would be referring to the newer version of the Dropbox desktop application for Mac OS. Are you able to mark entire folders as available offline when you right click the folder?
-
Hi @"Pysio13", thanks for contacting us. What filetypes are you trying to create shared links for on the web, and are these folders as well? This will help me to assist further!
-
Is your Dropbox folder located in the Home folder, or the new CloudStorage location?
-
Hi @"HelloAliceismyname", thanks for posting today! Is one account a private personal plan, and the work account a Dropbox Business team account? This will help me to assist further!
-
Thanks for the info, in order to look into this matter in more detail, would it be possible to reach out to the email associated with your forum profile?
-
Hi @"Fabiobox", the old implementation of Smart Sync has changed since the thread was created. Just to clarify, what OS are you running on your device, and what version of the Dropbox desktop application is running when you hover over the icon in the system tray/menu bar?
-
If it's been over a year since you logged into the account, then it means that your account was most likely deactivated by Dropbox due to inactivity. Unfortunately, this means that it wouldn't be possible to recover the old account or the files within that account.
-
Hi @"JoolzM", I've sent you an email, please could you reply to it when you get a chance.
-
Hi @"almadenmike", if the events page is empty, it means there were no changes made on your account recently. You mentioned that you uploaded your file to Dropbox years ago. When was the last time you accessed your account before now? Was it over 12 months ago?
-
No worries, glad to have helped out. If you have any further queries in the future, feel free to message back. Enjoy your weekend!

There should be a file or folder on your account that is taking up the quota. By calculating the folder sizes, you'll be able to determine where the space is being taken up on your account.
-
Did you try the steps in the second link I provided?
-
Hi @"Q9999", thanks for messaging the Community. You can find out the quota usage on the account by checking out this page. Additionally, if you need the size of files and folders, these steps would also help. If you need any further assistance, please let me know!

Are you able to find the exact location that the ghost file points to? Is it on the same path as your original post? Is the normal file another file in your Dropbox folder, or somewhere else?
-
Have you tried reinstalling the Dropbox desktop application, without uninstalling it first, using this link?
-
When you get a chance when you're at home, please could you forward the screenshot, since any referral quota will automatically appear on that page.
-
If the referrals are there, then the quota level should be higher. Could you attach a screenshot showing the plan page?
-
Thanks for the info. In order to look into this matter further, can we contact you at the email address associated with your forum profile?
-
Thanks for the info, could you check your quota level on this page? Also, do you have any change in the promotional quota on the referrals page?
-
Are you certain that the alias is working correctly, and that no emails are being automatically filtered out by the private domain handler?
-
Hi @"SeraphDB", could you clarify what you mean by losing everything? Are you referring to all your files? Are none of them visible on the Dropbox site?
-
Hi @"Colin C.16", is your email on a public email provider, or a private business domain?
-
At this time, there isn't any option to have the link open directly in the application itself. As they are a URL, they will always open on the website.
-
Hi @"mike1234", could you clarify exactly what happens when you try to load the Dropbox desktop application? What is the status of the app in the menu bar when you click it? This will help me to assist further!
-
Hi @"dfhc", thanks for messaging the Community! Currently, if you try to open a file in a shared link, it would open on the Dropbox site, and not the native application. If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
-
Hi @"w_b", the screenshots should be showing the prompt for the administrative access, to understand what you're seeing.

By ghost files, do you mean that the Desktop, Documents and Downloads folders are still present in the Dropbox folder? Does the Mac device default to those locations when trying to open the Desktop folder for instance?
