why you just don't create a shared folder and shared with another dropbox user. put in the shared folder everything you want to share.

Hola Cecilia.

Hola. Dropbox no borra documentos.

I don't see any answers to the above questions.... does Dropbox not answer the questions in the user forums? This is a user supported forum only. I want to do the same thing as Halvor R. I also just upgraded to Pro and want to use it as a backup cloud for My Documents and My Pictures. An answer about this from Dropbox…

You can in Properties of the My Docs folder change the path and move it to the Dropbox folder. In this way, your docs will be moved to Dropbox and uploaded to the cloud. If your hdd crash or your laptop is stolen, you still have a backup in the cloud. Anyway, is recommended to backup your Dropbox content into dvd, usb,…

I mean, what's going on here? And why the insane, brain-dead recommendation to 'use my desktop app?" The desktop app is recommended if you want to download a huge amount of files. It's easy to follow: install the app and the files will be downloaded in the background. is anyone actually in charge over there? This is a user…

Came home from vacation, was getting messages about files being deleted. They sure were: for reasons I am still not sure of, Dropbox delete 650,000 files Dropbox don't delete files. Only an user or virus/malware can delete 650,000 files. and I can't restore them because 50k batches. If you are talking about the web…

John: If you delete by accident a huge amount of files, the procedure is to request a rollback to Support. Please follow instructions at https://www.dropbox.com/help/9132 Support will be able to recover your files. If you have a Free account, you have 30 days for recovery. If you have a Pro account, you have 30 days for…

Dropbox executables (installer, app and updates) use port 80 and 443. Some features use port 17600 and 17603. Lan Sync use 17500 by default. Dropbox.com needs to be whitelisted in some firewalls, NAC or IDS devices. [This thread is now closed by moderators due to inactivity. If you're experiencing a similar behavior, feel…

It's a very important feature. I have a mix of photos in the Camera Upload folder, not easy to organize. Will be good if we can upload to an specific subfolder or just if Dropbox create a folder for each smartphone in the Camera Upload folder.

In a PC where you have your Dropbox and the photos you want to move: * locate the photos * select all the photos you want to move * use Cut / Paste. You can use drag and drop as well. When the photos are moved from one Dropbox folder to another Dropbox folder, Dropbox will sync only the location. This will take just few…

David. One workaround: * Get a PC with enough space and install Dropbox. * Use your credentials * Enable selective sync and only sync one folder with just few files * Add the 250GB folder on this PC, into the Dropbox folder * Enable this folder to sync with Selective Sync * 250GB will be uploaded to Dropbox. wait until…

Bobby. I don't understand. Upload folders, sub folders and files in Dropbox is a piece of cake. Just move the Main Folder you want to upload to Dropbox folder. When Dropbox detect the new content, the app will start uploading the files to the cloud. It's easy. It's simple. Time required for upload depends on your Internet…

@Paulo. You can backup your Surface Pro using Veeam Endpoint Backup free in order to protect your data and Dropbox docs from Malware Ransomware

@Beltway: You are 100% right. All critical, sensitive and important data must be backed up at least twice. A good rule to follow is the backup 3,2,1 rule: 3 copies 2 mediums 1 offsite Dropbox is not a backup solution. I backup my Dropbox content in 2-3 Bluray disks, HDD and NAS drive. If I delete a file by error, I can…

Mark is right. Years ago when I was a newbie with Dropbox, I installed a Non-Supported Portable Dropbox app for testing in my wife profile in my computer. Something happens and I lost about 27,000 files. Thanks God Support help me reverting back the event so I get my files back. I never ever used non supported solutions in…

Beware. Even when you can use this mount trick to cheat Dropbox and move the content to an external drive, this is NOT supported by Dropbox and you can eventually have issues with your files or content. Have good backups of your data. 2 or 3 copies.

Dropbox should write their code so that there is an easy way of getting rid of their icon in the navigation pane if the user wants to do that. You are free to request new features and bug fixes at Dropbox Support Your last post is just plain ridiculous. Whether Microsoft loves Dropbox or not they shouldn't allow Dropbox to…

Also if windows were to be taking such action, it would do the same for all the other cloud storage programs and not just Dropbox. Maybe Microsoft do this with Dropbox in the new OS because is the pioneer in cloud sync. Dropbox was launched on 2007 and other big competitors were launched on 2011, 2012 and 2014. I don't…

If you want to be pedantic, then "yes." But in the same way that a car goes around a corner because the driver turns the steering wheel. Dropbox is making a call to Windows every time it starts up, saying "Here I am, please display my icon in the Navigation Pane." Dropbox initiates the action, and there is no need for it.…

Jeremy: Windows is very customizable, but if everything was customizable, you will have a 70GB Operating System. It's Windows 10 code who add the icon in the Windows Explorer. You can try removing the icon by adjusting the keys in the registry and then change the permissions to avoid modification. I don't tested this…

This Dropbox icon in Windows 10 is there by design of the new OS. I don't believe this is a big issue at all. It's useful for most users. There is a lack of customization of some items in the OS. No problem. There is some registry entries you can modify to hidde the icon, but the icon appears again after a restart or…

@Bob C The download arrives as a .zip file. Unless the user is set up to deal with that, it just results in more confusion and alienation. Zip is an standard compression method today. Zip compression it's built-in in Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10. As an alternative, you can download free 7-zip software to handle zip files.

@ Bob Is there a way to create the forced-download URL of a single file, at the file level? In your computer, move the file to the Public folder in the Dropbox folder. Locate the file, right click and select Copy Public Link. Share the link with your client and they will download just the file.
-
Robert is correct. Dropbox don't modify your original files. Just share the link with the 1 at the end and your clients will be forced to download the video.

@Kazem Dropbox it's a useful sync application/service. When you create an account in Dropbox.com and install the application in your computer, you will have a folder in your PC or MAC. Then, you move valuable data (photos, docs, music, emails, work docs, etc) to the folder and Dropbox will upload the files to the cloud.…

But this is not how they charge for the service - DB charges by space, not by access or downloads. This is not true. There is a huge amount of technology investment: broadband, security, permission backups, etc For example: if one user with Dropbox Pro shares a folder with 20GB with 20 friends, Dropbox will need to provide…
