Hey there @"brnsg" thanks for submitting this Idea. In fact, this is a popular suggestion because we have an active thread with the same idea right now. Would you mind hooping into that thread and adding a vote to support it?

Thanks for the idea, if I understand you correctly: You are asking for a one tap way to clear the suggested filename when you upload/import a file, so you can type your own name right away. Ideally the “clear” action would keep the file extension (like .pdf or .jpg) so it is not accidentally removed.

@"J-Reacher" sometimes things just need to work the way we expect them to, so I completely understand your response here. I took a look into your support case and saw that your issue has been escalated so it can be investigated thoroughly. But beyond your individual case, you've made larger points about how changes are…

Welcome to the community @"SMurl"! I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this tough situation. To set expectations: Dropbox can’t show a per-device log of which files were opened when someone was signed into the same account on a linked device. File Activity also doesn’t record “downloaded” events, unfortunately. For extra…

Welcome to the community @"nicholas521" It sounds like your new iMac may be seeing both a current Dropbox folder and an older, unlinked one (this can happen on macOS when Dropbox uses Apple’s File Provider, which places Dropbox under ~/Library/CloudStorage). The next step is to confirm your new Mac is signed into the same…

Thanks for the suggestion @"EvolvedBonobo" If you prefer paying via Apple Pay or Google Pay, the best option today is subscribing through the Apple App Store or Google Play, since billing is handled by those stores.

Welcome to the community anonymous If Folder A is set to “Anyone with the link,” anyone who opens that link can view what’s inside Folder A, including subfolders. To keep Folder B private, the safest option is to move Folder B outside of Folder A and share it separately (for example, “Only people invited”)

Rich gave the right answer Dropbox hasn’t removed support for third party access, but authentication and security handling does change over time. The error you’re seeing happens during Beyond Compare’s authorization step, and your files are still safe. Since Beyond Compare manages its own Dropbox integration, the next step…

@"mo36", to clarify, have you tried going to paper.dropbox.com directly in your browser and searching for the doc by title or keywords, instead of using the direct link to the actual document? If that doesn't work, can you try checking the Doc history to see saved versions of the file and possibly recover from there? Let…

@"jmcken" thanks for relaying all of this detailed info, it was really helpful on diagnosing this. While Dropbox files are stored locally when marked “available offline,” Windows File History does not always reliably back up folders managed by sync apps, and behavior can change after Windows or Dropbox updates. If you need…

Hello all. Thanks for the detailed rundown, that was really helpful context into this. This error appears to be coming from Beyond Compare’s connection to Dropbox, not from Dropbox itself. Your files are safe and should still be accessible on dropbox.com or through the official Dropbox app. You may have some luck by…

Welcome to the community @"keri_p" Even though the folder belongs to a paid account, any files you add to a shared folder still count toward your own Dropbox storage. Since your free account is over the 2 GB limit, uploads are blocked. A good workaround is to ask the paid account holder to send you a file request. File…
